I try to explain.. It does not say you "HAVE" to have the insurance. It just says that you must be eligible for the insurance. Which means you must be a full member.

" P&C membership is generally available to current and former members of the U.S. Military and their former dependents."

That is Straight from the website. So if you are military or a dependent of a member of usaa (full member) You qualify for the discount.

So this person got it because...

Others pm'd me that were not full members so they couldn't be eligible for P&C..

We dropped USAA insurance (Farmer's has better rates for the exact same coverages) and all we have is a credit card with them now. When we bought the Camaro we got the rebate just for having the Credit Card.

I am a member with them. I have ZERO accounts with them. None, no checking, no savings, no insurance, no nothing, never did. Don't have a membership card either.

I called them from the dealer to get my membership number. Handed it to the dealer on a napkin and got the discount.

I only needed to prove membership to get the USAA price. I wrote a check using my USAA checking account, and that was good enough to get the USAA price (the discount is actually better than $750).

Per USAA you have to have insurance (2cars bought thru USAA)...per dealers they just need a member # as they assume if you have that you probably have insurance thru them...I have multiple friends in USAA Customer Service here in Tampa and all said the same...USAA and dealers rarely communicate, USAA tells you that as its INTENDED to be for its insurance holders...Dealers see USAA member and assume its all the same.

If you can get it from the dealer better for you as long as you can get your discount from USSA or from another source . not every dealer understands the statement made. Depends on how bad they want the
sale! They can knock off from the sticker as much as they can for the sale to be made!
True on membership if you were grandfathered in.

This is what they say.

1GM and Mercedes-Benz offers are limited time purchase price discounts. Offers available from manufacturers through participating dealers. GM discounts not available on Saturn, Hummer, Pontiac, Saab and Cadillac vehicles, Corvette ZR1, Chevrolet Volt, Camaro convertible, and medium duty trucks. GM and Mercedes-Benz offer discounts only to persons eligible for membership in USAA Property and Casualty Insurance Group. P&C membership is generally available to current and former members of the U.S. Military and their former dependents. GM requires presentation of proof of USAA eligibility and will accept a USAA card with USAA number, USAA loan documents, or a USAA insurance card at the time of purchase. Mercedes-Benz requires a USAA card with USAA number or a USAA insurance card and a printed USAA Member Vehicle Incentive Program (EAB) page from USAA Car Buying Service with discount amount and offer code. Mercedes-Benz discount amounts may vary by model year and model. The Fleet incentive must be used at time of purchase or lease. Fleet incentives cannot be used in conjunction with Dealer Employee Purchase Program (DEPP), Mercedes Vehicle Plan (MVP), Master Lease Program (MLP), Diplomat, European Delivery, Courtesy Vehicle Program (CVP), Special Demos, Competitor Conquest Program, other Fleet Programs (Corporate Sales or Fleet Employee Program (FEP)), or non-U.S. Specification vehicles. Some manufacturer incentives cannot be added to the discount. See your dealer for more details. There is no obligation to purchase or continue USAA products or services to obtain the offer.

Very last line should pretty much erase everything you just said.

So if you just sign up through the usaa website are you considered a full member? I'm not military and don't have any family in the military.

No , you are unable to get insurance and some of the credit products unless you are military or a dependent of a full member

Ok....like I said, I am telling you what my buddies who literally work in the customer service branch here in Tampa say as well as what USAA Reps have said in the past when I purchased previous vehicles. You are right that disclaimer at the end does add some clarity, I am simply saying what I have been told by both.
