Informal Top Poll with multiple questions!

As another data point to go with my previous negative "top problems" response, I already have 20,000 km (12,000 miles) on the vehicle, with very frequent cycling of the top.

I Have had my top replaced once with the second wearing thru again. GM wont touch it until there is a fix. Customer relations is a joke. Calling me to say that there is nothing they and do right now.

I have rub marks on both sides of my top, worse on the right side

I have not had it replaced due to many complaints on here about wind noise and overall installtion issues, and the fact that those that did have a replacement top installed experienced new rub marks later. Since the new TSB detailing how to shave down some of the brackets, I may take it in at a later time.

Other than rub marks, there aren't any holes on the exterior causing any leaks as of now

Mine is 2012 car was in QC 36 days. I emailed GM an this was the response.

Your dealer is reporting correct that your car appears to be on a QC hold. Recently most of the Verts have gone into a QC hold since the early August production dates at or around the 10th. Those have since moved out after about 3 to 4 weeks in QC. It is clear that there must have been a part or issue that has required a new part to be ordered and received from the supplier to fix the problem prior to shipping. You are right at that period in which I would expect to see the release and movement from QC. GM does not ever disclose what the issue really was so as not to draw attention to something that is not an issue on other cars. This type of situation is normal however it is rare. The main difference is that the New GM will not ship a vehicle until it meets the high standards established for quality. Sorry I don’t have any more information or detail for you. Mostly we only see the data and trends established by tracking multiple vehicles and understanding on how production processes work. Keep watching and I am sure you will see something in the way of movement very soon. More than likely it will be preceded by another 4b00 right before you see the 4200 shipped status.

2011 built 2/21/11. Original top wore VERY badly, replaced and the it started rubbing exactly the same way the day it was installed. I took it home and fixed it myself.

Still has very slight rub marks, but nowhere near what it was before I fixed it. I'm sure the tape fix will get me where I need to be.

Replacement top had VERY LOUD wind noise, but it has gotten significantly better. It's about 75% gone now.

Me. 2nd top rubbed also. I did the SUX fix. I still get wee little rubs, not pinch marks and there's a big difference. I'll buy myself some tape and that should stop that even. I did get more rear passenger side noise that no one can figure out.

Not yet, at the time I brought it back (in July) the dealer gave me a TSB that states "Do not replace the convertible top cover at this time. Engineering is evaluating additional fix information which will be released soon" I'll wait until they have a complete solution.

My spreadsheet is filling up quick with responses. The results from this informal poll will shock you. I also took some data from the "Time for answers thread" as some of those individuals have not commented on this thread yet. Just as a teaser, those with problems from model year 2011 and 2012 is 77.78% so far out of 27 entries.

1. Pick up new on July 1st
2. 3,800 miles (not used for work - weekday nights/weekends)
3. Top down - 3,700 miles of driving
4. Open / close top 4 times per ride (close at stores / food stops)
5. garaged everynight except 1 weeks vaca.
6. Clean with vert top cleaner / warm water.
7. Still looks original. My last vert - 350Z,s top still look new
after 5 years.
