It will be my daily driver. I can afford the 2SS the gas, the insurance, etc., but I wanted something I can enjoy and not worry about if my family needs to drive it. The V6 will be more manageable for them. I'm keeping it for the long term too. Not for the collectors value, but for driving pleasure. My job "affords" me the opportunity to drive fast everyday if I need too, with powerful cars, so that's not my main concern.

Ordered 2LT/RS. Ordered pretty much loaded for around the same price as a 1SS. I am not going to race and have many more options than the 1SS.

my dilemma
2LT/RS I can keep my grand am but don't need to since the LT has great gas milage. And i could get it about 8 mnths sooner than an 2SS.
2SS/RS I would want to keep my Grand Am and a daily driver and just take out the SS for fun. But i would be able to get it quicker if i had a trade in... I dunno what to do.

To appease my practical side

For me, the V6 is the perfect balance between practicality and fun.

3. I love the look of the V6 more then the V8
4. It's a Camaro!
5. 29 mpg highway is more than my Sky and close to the HHR...
6. All the reviews I have read on the V6 makes it seem like a better everyday car, and trip car than an SS would be.

For me, I hope to be ordering the 2LT in the next couple months because:

1. I have a '68 V8 now
2. It will be my winter car (don't need 400 pound-feet in the snow!)
3. 12 year old son will drive it someday...
4. My first '68 was a 250 cube 6 with a heavy duty clutch and a header--I freakin' loved it!
5. My 12 year old son will drive it someday...

The V6 gives you the best bang for the buck. Where else can you get a car that looks this awesome, has 305hp, gets 29 MPG on the highway, and even loaded out with the RS package is less than $30K? I remember my first thought... really I can afford one of these?!?

Knowing how I drive, I just can't think of anything I would do with a V8 that I can't do with a V6. I'm not that aggressive.

So you changed your mind ant? Dude.. you should just buy a used V8 camaro or vette.

I know a guy selling an 84 vette, 350 crossfire, automatic 4+3 and it runs.. for $2500 bucks lol.

On a serious note that's a good move for your first car. I love this V6 engine it's got as much HP as my LT1 V8.

I noticed that some of you said the looks are the same or something similar but for the life of me the front end looks completey different to me. Not the fact that there is a slot before the cowl but the whole front end. That is the only thing that is really bugging me about the v6 and holding me back from that over the SS. Ive gotten into AutoX since its the only legal racing available here on Oahu now and well a near 4000lb car wont really fair well in that avenue anyay so really no need for the v8. But the looks is important to me so anyone see what I see about the front end and does it bother you???

You are right, the "mail slot" and the front bumper cover in its lower section are different from the V6, as well as the lower grille. Personally, I don't like the lower grille on the SS, it looks mismatched to the upper one, whereas the V6 models lower grille more closely matches the upper one. Just my own preference.
