At this point it's hard to tell exactly what performance you'd get out of an SS with an extra $5k to spend, but for me, I could never drive the Challenger because it always reminds me of the Dukes of Hazzard car. I feel like I'd have to hyphenate my first name with a -joe or a -bob and get used to shouting "Yeeehaw!"

I went back and forth on the Challenger R/T and Camaro SS for months, after I eliminated a couple other cars. In the end, the SS Camaro was and is the winner for me, although I think I would have been happy with a Chally as well. They nailed the styling on the car, but it does need a diet, and when I test drove the Chally I felt seemingly every pound.
IMO, the Camaro is the better buy. Good luck! |

Yeah I would definately go with Camaro. Both look stunning on the outside. The Camaro's interior is kinda a hot or miss it seems, but there is no denying its originality. On the other hand the Challenger has your typical Dodge interior (I guess with the exception of the seats, but they are nothing special). Performance wise, the are pretty close. For after-market stuff, keep in mind the Camaro's engine has been around for a bit and there is just a ton of stuff for it. So even if price were the same I would say Camaro, and with that included it seems the logical choice is the SS.

The SRT8's are way overpriced IMO*. If you are gonna get one get a used one.
The SS's are more fair priced. Of course I am biased the SS is better but Challenger is also very appealing cruiser. It's more of a heavy cruiser than SS. |

Here's my opinion:
The Challenger is a sweet looking car. Retro, all-muscle, great sound, flashy colors. When I'm near one on the road I always notice it. They do have a great road presence. When I'm near a Camaro on the road I want to jump the f*ck out of my car and get as close as I possibly can to it. When you see it next to the mundane cars on the road - the accords, camrys, minivans, and cookie-cutter SUVs, you realize hoe beautiful and eye-popping this car is. And I'm a bang-for-my-buck kind of person. I am pretty sure the Camaro SS is the fastest car you can get for its price. There is not a single new car that will run a quicker 1/4 for cheaper. That right there pretty much sells me on its own. Now, take in to account the Challenger is $7k+ more, and it still gets beat by the Camaro, it seems like a no brainer. I like the Challenger, I really do. If price was not an object, it would be a slightly more difficult decision. But this day in age, that price difference can mean a whole lot of go-fast goodies ![]() Edit: oh, and you can find dealers willing to accept GMS and supplier pricing. Just do a little shopping.

I like the SE better than the SRT8. Huh? Yea you heard me.. in Torredor Red too...
It's more a realistic value. The SRT8 is just a "dukes of hazzard" surcharge. |

Just wait a few months - the Challys will come down in price. They'll have too.

I must confess...
The Challenger is a freakin sweet car, and I would probably be in the same boat as you. The Challenger is the car for you if you want a comfortable, almost identical copy of a retro muscle car.. But then again if you want rubber burnin, ass kickin, road huggin performance all in a sleek, sexy shell, the Camaro is for you. And youll save a couple of big bucks too. Ok, so maybe I lied I wouldnt be on the same boat, I would pick the in a heatbeat, but its up to you, I mean, your spending the $. Even though the chally is pretty sweet, camaro is all around better and costs less

I was browsing the other day. The Torredor Red is the win.
