You know, I might get flamed for saying this, but seeing as these cars are actually still roaming around, this could mean that they could be experimenting. Maybe engine tweaks, supension mods, some little tweaks and things for the next model year. Who knows, just because the Z28 is on hold for now, that doesn't mean that tesing has stopped entirely does it?
Just my 2 cents

The one in the above picture is an early IVER (Intgegration Vehicle Engineering Release). Once the IVERs get to 500k miles (CTF or Captured Test Fleet cars must get to 200k), the IVERs will be destroyed. Demolished. Crushed. With no trace remaining except in some form of plastic and metal recyling into cup holders and golf clubs. |

There is no reason to stop using the IVER mules for continued testing since the production car is out. Suspension, drive train and many other components still need durability testing. There are still some new things that GM can work out for the 2011 MY Camaro. One of the initiatives of the GMX521 and GM as a whole is to cut costs and why crush some of the high percentage IVER's when they can still be used.
I know that corner and the Mr. Pita across the street well.

Not quite! 500,000 miles on CTF vehicle fleet (cumulative) before we ship to commerce. We never stop testing -- it's about quality and durability. Will some of you break stuff on your Camaros? Unfortunately, yes........but we test to failure and then reengineer -- |
