They walk around the car inspecting it but without fail the next comment is always, "hey is this supposed to be like this" No one ever says "what a ride, congratulations". Yes, I know I need new friends and I know they are jealous but this really gets old after a while. Two questions. Do you guys ever get any of this and if you do how do you handle it.
I even get that here on the forums. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180176

You like your car? Who cares what they think? Tell them or just 'back' off. It's clear why they h8, but they should just say nice car and back off. You could disarm them and point out something yourself, if you care enough about what they think. Talk about the stuff you want to do to it, rather than what it already has or is. Or, you could just point out what a DB they sound like.

So it isn't true that opposites attract........the O.P's supply of friends must be endless if their faulty beyond repair, aka keeping, simply for pointing out a dink in his car......... better yet add these three words ( With Their Friends) , after .........."find something wrong __________ ____________ _______________ to make themselves feel better yada yada yada.

I could care less what they have to say. I told them it's my money I could spend it on whatever car I want. I know two of my cuzins who wanted a mustang and the other wanted a camaro too. Instead there parents bought one a BMW 3 series and the other got a infiniti g37. I guess what I'm trying to say is they are still under the impression that American made cars suck.
I see more 150K mile American cars than the cheap crap Japan puts out. They really need to open their eyes.

What I find interesting is..............is that the O.P doesn't accuse his friends of actually putting him down or critizing the cars make or model and he and many here are ready to toss them to the wayside, simply because their asking honest questions about his ride. They appear to be pretty observant as I would think friends would be. Must be a generational indifference on how one views, importance, as well generally welcomed, diversed and varying opinions among friends......Oh! Well I guess the old days of agreeing to disagree among friends have gone to the wayside................

I notice friends who aren't that into cars do that. But I have many friends from C5 and thee all know our cars have small imperfections but we don't care. To me it's part of the hobby. It's almost impossible to keep a car perfect

There's always people like that. Don't let it get to you. As long as you are happy with your ride who cares what everyone thinks. "make your Camaro your Camaro"

Maybe the answer to the O.P's friendship riddle is...................He take the time and forethought as friends might and simply ask them ........."Do you want to go for a ride?" Oddly................the O.P is picking his friends or those he associates himself with, so whose bringing these issues on him. Self preservation emotionally is easily defeated by self victimization..........it appears the O.P is setting his self up for failed relationships, using a self emposed situation, and then excuse himself from any responsibilty, as he ends those relationships. Its hard for me to accept that amongst all of his supposive friends........They all react exactly the same towards the same car.....why would they. Those odds seem unlikely. Further more even if he dumps this group and establishes another, the same cycle of history will simply repeat itself....... In all likelyhood the car isn't the causal variable in the center of the O.P's discord. In all honesty he may find the answer to his problems simply by looking into the rearview mirror.

Can't say that anybody has said that to me yet. All I've gotten is compliments on its beauty.

It's all compliments unless it's the left-handed kind like the guy that says "it's nice, but not as nice as the first gen" and that's just his opinion. Hell I like the first gen too, but I rode in them, and I've rode in mine, and I'd take mine any day. That's just my opinion.
Sounds like your friends are either trying to point things out to yank your chain, or they truly recognize that you care about the small blemishes and want to know about them, so they point them out. They're prolly just yanking your chain though, wanting to see you freak out. Don't all guys do that to their friends?
