Im thinkin of practicing on an exhaust tip? Or maybe my old mufflers?

But isn't the tip or the muffler stainless steel? I would think to practice on the same material.

Honestly man if you don't have the correct tools, I wouldn't do it. I did mine myself, but I also have a $300 snap on die grinder along with an air compressor and several hundred dollars worth of bits, mandrels, cartridge rolls and cross buffs. A dremel will do it, but it's going to take a while. You also really need to know what shape you need to aim for. If this is your first attempt at something like this, be prepared to have to buy a new throttle body. Good luck to you

My opinion, BIG MISTAKE! Don't do it.
You know they say there a thousand ways to loose a race. Well, there a thousand ways this could go wrong. Without experience and the proper tools it will not end well.

Actually if you look on youtube. Some people are using the dremel tool only and it came out good.

I dont know if I would do it myself ( the v6 one). It took a while for them to get the vmax ported correctly and they had been porting tb's for a long time before attacking the V6 one.. do you really think in your limted experience you going to achieve the same results so it doesnt actually lose power or throttle response?

You can definitely use dremel but I think the reason why alot of peoples use die grinder to port is due to the bit size. Alot of the good carbide burr's come in 1/4" but I believe dremel is only 1/8". I did however found some carbide burr's on ebay that will fit on dremel. Do a search on ebay for "dremel carbide".
Also, just like there might be a thousand ways that can go wrong but there are thousand ways you can make it work too. It just take some knowledge, patience and alot of practice. I say go for it Here are some 1/4" carbide that will work. |
