Any idea what would cause that?

what cam and springs did you put in? could have overreved and bent a valve. or just a broke outer spring if you have doubles. dont use brake cleaner. my mechanic uncle always uses starting fluid to check for vacuum leaks even if there is not issues. vacuum leaks are very bad on motors. brake cleaner is too acidic, will cause more damage than you want. carb cleaner is bad on the rings too.

Running a Comp Cams 229 / 236 with 112 LSA. Comp Cams double springs and retainers. If it was a bent valve or broken spring, wouldn't it always be acting up?
I wonder if LG Motorsports could figure out the problem?

i broken a out or inner spring with my duel springs. it made noises at times ran the same. but once both were broken you will know. lol. car will not idle right or even drive right at all. i am not what valve problem would be like though.

Vacuume leak check

I would stay away from any liquid solvent. Anything that come into contact with the rubber parts will cause deterioration. Back in the day we always used propane. Take a small propane burner and with it unlit let the gas leak around the areas of the intake manifold and hoses. Watch your tack. If there is a leak you will see a slight increase in RPM's

Are you getting a CEL or stabilitrak message on the DIC?

Are your plug wires all seated? Even loose can cause some of the idle issues you describe. And a misfire will sometimes trigger "service stabilitrak" on the DIC. Some Dilectic grease in the plug boots and make sure they're all seated may be all you need.

Hasn't thrown any codes. I will double check plug wires tomorrow. Could a loose injector cause this? Car runs like a scalded dog except when you come to a stop. Thanks to all for your input.

I would think so. O ring bad on an injector maybe.

When you did your exhaust did you put headers on? If yes, did you use a GM exhaust manifold gasket? Exhaust leaks can cause the car to miss, surge, idle funny, lots of things AND it won't throw a code.

Running Kooks headers, off-road pipes and Magnaflow cat-backs. I can't remember what gasket we used. Headers have been on for months, so I doubt they are the problem.

Okay, just putting it out there. The forum member with the exhaust header/gasket leak had his on for months, drove about 2000 miles and the tick kept getting worse. His gaskets were felt and they gave way. Then began the surging, would die at idle. Something to keep in the troubleshooting book.

Usually you hear a tick with an exhaust leak, or if its bigger, its an even louder/weirder noise.
It very well could be a back pressure issue, this is something ive never had to deal with, though

Here's the thread for what was believed an air leak, but the result was the exhaust manifold gasket leaking around #6 and #8.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t=engine+surge

One of the highlights from that thread

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=562

And a video of the ticking
