I see more applications than automated speeding tickets. I see a system that could contact the authorities should I go into cardiac arrest. I really don't think it will replace any doctors, but I do think it's a worthwhile pursuit.

This just seems more of a personal invasion of privacy sensors and cameras all over the car just to fixate on the driver and his moods heart rate. What if ur listening to music and jamming out that raises ur heart rate or what if u are screaming cause someone cut u off is the car gonna warn u to slow down or pull over if this happens? Stuff like this should be optional if u want it pay for it for those of us that dont want it let us choose.

I agree with this part only if it were true.....Let me list down some very important statistics that everyone should be aware of

-Chronic diseases [e.g. diabetes] costs 75% of the nation’s 2 trillion in medical care costs
-7 out of 10 deaths among Americans each year are from chronic diseases
-About one-fourth of people with chronic conditions have one or more daily activity limitations

According to research analysts [e.g. Frost and Sullivan] over 30% of these costs is completely unecessary and can be reduced by employing process automation and technology. So if you look at it these are the small steps that can help reduce the overall medical care costs and now you can see that it not only affects the "fraction" of people that suffer from chronic conditions but also those that are hale and hearty.

While I agree with the essence of the article I think this is a necessary evil/byproduct of evolution. Agreed that technology tends to make people useless but at the same time I also can't deny the fact that human error is typically always going to be far greater than machine failures from a statistical standpoint. Failure of an automated system is of course always a possibility however if you look at the odds of a human making a mistake versus a system failure I think the stats would always be in favour of the automated system.

But I complete get your point on the automation tends to render humans useless argument. However I think its just an evil that we have to accept if we want to evolve.

I'm 57 and I would love to have a steering wheel that shocks me back to life during a heart attack at wot. Tech can be good. Sometimes.

Something to keep in mind, as technology evolves, we devolve. Just think about it.
