Too complicated

Too much of a responsibility i say to many factors involved to take into serious consideration, what if you dont actually gather the full amount for an SS which mostly what everyone would really like, too much of a burden......: barf::(

Leaving you at a LS model camaro if your lucky... Don't get me wrong. I love your Idea, but it is so hard to get people on this forum to join something...

Look at it this way. I run a club in this forum which is called the "camaro owners club"(see signature below vvv). Seriously, I only have a 115 or so members. Paaaaaaleeeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeeeeeee. I know that half of this forum has owned a camaro before. They just don't take the time. Heck we had a "which is better mustang or camaro thread" and I think we only got a couple hundred votes.

Getting people to participate is your MAIN PROBLEM!
I just joined your club by the way....

Yea I know everyone isn't going to participate. Just throwin some figures out there. But if it were like the raffle. say set a price per ticket (not for profit) and set a set amount of tickets to be sold. Figure out what it would be for a 2SS and when all the tickets have been sold pick the winner and let them pick what they want. And if its less than what money has been taken in then donate that to a charity or something.

I THINK its illegal, but I'm not sure. I think its ok when its a semi-private raffle. For example, limited only to members of Camaro5.com.

$5.00 is cheap enough. I'd buy a ticket...

The real problem though is the risk that the owner would take. He would have to buy the car first, maybe insure it too. Then wait until enough raffle tickets were sold.

Figure that at least HALF of the people would not believe its legit. The other HALF would believe it but would not be interested. Half of those people would only buy after beind sold (or spammed). That leaves about 12.5 % of people who MIGHT buy it right away, reducing the risk for the owner.

But STILL! I'd go for it.

Would Paypal allow it?

IRS

Whoever the organizer is will have to file form number ???? with the IRS, reporting the winner so they can make sure the winner reports the value of the car as income.

This could work, after all it's very similar to what St Joseph School is doing with their Camaro and Corvette Raffles. Why not ask them to help?

Open to US players only. Prize worth $42,000; limited to 700 tickets @ 60USD per Ticket. Takes care of Tax, Title, and possible insurance costs?

I'm afraid although it's a noble idea that I voted for and would gladly participate in, it's just too complicated to work out. I hope I'm wrong and someone steps in with all the answers. Personally, I'd prefer it be only for those that have cancelled because of loss of job because of the current poor economic conditions.
