I looked at the pics, that is rediculously horrible work. I wouldn't let those ass clowns touch the car again.

They could have avoided all those problems on the rear by just taking the trunk lid off and painted/baked it separate. A quality body shop would have done that. Then they obviously saw all the overspray and just blasted it with a buffer causing all the other problems. Plus screwing up the stripe, then cutting it to put it back down.

I've put several sets of stripes on, the trunk is by far the easiest piece. If they screwed that up, zero talent at that shop. Hopefully Chevy has a better dealer in the area they can use to resolve all the issues.

It's going to take a new stripe kit to fix it, and a real good detailer that knows what he is doing to get out all that overspray and buffer marks.

Car was in today for a second opinion by another dealership. They agree that it is a mess. So far we know that I will need new tail lights and new stripes (again). They are hoping to be able to buff out the overspray and scratches otherwise they will need to re-paint the back bumper, trunk and the back fenders. Now I wait for GM's answer.....

Glad to see another dealership agrees that the the 1st dealership did a piss poor job and they agree that everything you pointed out needs to be replaced/re-painted.

Good luck keep us posted

This is why I absolutely can't stand taking my car to the dealership.

I'm in Afghanistan, so I begrudgingly (sp?) allowed my wife to take the Camaro in for an oil change. She calls back, "They found an oil leak and coolant leak." WTF!? Car's got 5k miles and never raced? Anyway, dealership gave her a Cadillac as a loaner, and gave her great support. Problem is, this has been the exception. I had a 97 Trans Am I entered in car shows. There was a TSB for intake manifold leak, and they scratched the hell out of the front clip doing the work.

To cover their tracks, they buffed the hell out of the front clip. After a vigourous, clinical application of show car polish over 8-10 months, I'd gotten my car down to 0 swirl marks. When I looked at the car, I said, "WTF did these swirls come from?" 2 months later, due to them buffing through the clearcoat I started getting "Orange Peel" appearing "wrinkles" in my paint. I never showed the car again, and... I've never allowed my GM car back to a dealer since (except for an oil change on my Suburban). This same car then threw an EGR Bad Flow Malfunction code, and they swapped the smog pump. 3 days later... EGR code back. I changed the EGR myself. They were so inept, they signed off the Cali DMV form that THEY changed the EGR when the recall popped on my yearly registration. I think they've stopped selling GM, but the dealer was David J Phillips in Laguna Nigel, California. Horrible.

My wife tried chastizing me for "not trusting" her to take the car in but she just doesn't understand that I've had so many bad experiences with GM dealers. The "great service" dealer is Paradise Chevrolet, in Temecula, CA, however I haven't had any paint work done there.

I hate to hear you've gone through this. I am so @n@l, I don't know if I could have lived with the chipped paint. Maybe if I had modded something that subsequently created the issue, I could live with it. However, stock car with everything stock... It would bug me knowing a 40k car rolled off the plant with issues.

The "problem" is finally resolved!!! Between GM and the Dealership....I am now the proud new owner of a 2012 Camaro! They proposed an offer for a new car that I could not refuse! I will need to change my profile picture....the new car is Victory Red with flat black stripes. What a whirlwind! Merry Christmas to me! Thanks everyone on here for being patient during my meltdowns!

Way to step up GM!!!!!! I give GM the credit though, not the dealer. The few bad ones like this make it hard for the majority of good ones out there and I still believ the majority ARE good dealers that care, but the ones like this and the idiots voiding warranties for idiotic things that have nothing to do with the cars longevity sure give all a black eye and most dont deserve it. Congrats!!!!!
