G37s are very aggressively geared, not to mention they make a bit more power where it counts. You lost, big deal. I don't see what the sticker price has to do with anything though...

Win or lose it really does not matter as long as you raced in a SAFE WAY and had fun doing it.

First off, that G37 should be a tad faster...its expected.

2nd....your shifting made your car even slower than it would have been

3rd....try putting your car in the "M" position...but don't touch your shift buttons! It will be in sport mode and you should notice that when you drive aggressively the car will shift much more aggressive than it does in regular "D".

Never race someone using the tap shifts if your intent is to win. Use sport mode, FTW.

Use sport mode. Tap shift is not for drag racing. You would have lost anyways but, you will do better letting your A6 shift for you. If your comfortable with launching your car on a strip then sport mode and no nannies FTW.

I only use tap shift when I run people.

Too boring to just put on M and gun it.

Get used to it. Until you start doing mods most of the high end performance vehicles are going to beat you stock for stock. The SS doesn't have enough TQ at over 4000lbs. to do much against lighter, higher compresion vehicles.
When I first got my SS, I got my ass kicked by an M3 and then I felt the vomit in my throat and realized 425hp. wasn't much at all after I started doing detailed research on the SS and realized what everyone else was doing to these vehicles.
The SS has a great framework to build on, but stock it's not very mpressive from a performance perspective, thus the ZL1, a completely upgraded SS and a supercharger.

Wow...I haven't raced my 2011 G37 (I save that for the Camaro)...although I knew it had 323 HP and was aggresive and that was part of what made me buy that when looking for a new daily driver. I figured the V6 Camaros were geared better for "racing" style performance, but now you've got me wanting to take the Infiniti to the track and just see what it will do.

I love the Inifiniti for my daily driving, even though performace wise it can't hold a candle to the Camaro SS. It is interesting to see it from the perspective of this thread! I don't have the G37 S...does anyone know the performance difference between the Journey series and the "Sport" series??

The Sport has a viscous LSD(most important of the whole package), uprated 14 inch disc brakes, lightweight alloy wheels, High performance offset 225/245 summer tires, slightly lower and stiffer suspension, 3.73 gearing, 6-speed manual, quicker steering ratio, sport seats, sport steering wheel, body kit, and that basically sums it up. The G37 sedan is faster than the Coupe, it runs high 13's where as the Coupe runs solid 14.0 typically.

G37 Coupe-330 hp/270 lb-ft
G37 Sedan-328 hp/269 lb-ft
G37 Convertible-325 hp/269 lb-ft

G's are much much much faster. My buddy's is completely stock and he ran 13.5 as his fastest and 13.6-13.7 every time.

Here's a video of us at the drag strip:

I got a great jump on him, but he reeled me in. This is when I was A LOT slower, not we're much closer but his ET is still a little better.

Your journey sedan is the fastest of all the G series. The S package is heavier and has the same horsepower, and the coupe is even heavier than the S package sedan. Your car is a mid 13 second car at about 105mph (average). Good choice on going with the white. Classy.

I just put it in drive and floor it, no sports mode, no tap shift, just D.

Wouldn't use anything else...

It's only about 90 lbs heavier over the Journey, which is almost nothing.... plus the Journey becomes a one wheel wonder and just spins it's inside tire in corners and it's back right one at the drag strip uselessly. I get .1-.2 and 1 mph faster than G37 sedan with my mods, but these engines don't have much potential left for modding. Nissan plans on going Direct Injection and getting 370+ hp(it already has 350 without it in the 370Z and HYUNDAI, of all people, is putting a 350 hp DI 3.8 in their Genesis Coupe).
