How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

My 2lt was 1/15/2010 or close, 18000 on it when traded. I did notice at that time about 3/4 of a qt down on the last change. Still was running great.

I thought the root cause was known - lack of oil. No?

1. Year - 2010
2. Build date (on the door plate) - gotta check tomorrow morning...
3. VIN - 2G1FF1EV0A9193012
4. mileage - 9,xxx miles or 9,000
5. Bone Stock, not one mod whatsoever
6. Drove it fairly hard, floored it frequently. No hard shifts however as I wasnt good enough with a stick yet to shift fast. No burn outs either, a few hard launches.

Purchased mine in april of 2010. Im fairly sure it was built in January but Ill check tomorrow. The engine threw a bearing and was rebuilt under warranty. Took them 45 days though...

My engine still burns oil too, especially if I drive it hard. I switched to synthetic 4,000 miles ago and I just had to add a quart to get a mid level reading. Doing an oil change in the next 600~ miles.

^^ yes, but I was wondering what builds were affected by this Area 51ish missing oil phenomenon.

Wow Darkness, That's very odd...I'd take it back and tell them its burning so much oil. I've never been low, and I used to wait close to 10k, because of the oil life thing, on my oil changes. And I drove it hard. (I know its bad, but it survived till now, and I'm actually able to pamper it a bit now)

Ah - that makes sense. I think all engines use oil at a high rate these days. A good question would be how much oil is being used by build date. I'm guessing most performance driven llt engines will use a quart at least every 1800 miles.

It sucked man. Another guy on here from canada had the same exact problem as me with about the same mileage.

He told me that it was because our engine bearings had contaminated metal from the factory or something, making an imperfect finish. I honestly do not know the specifics on how an engine works, just the basics. So I cant explain it too well lol.
