Another vote for justified. If I were you, I'd go ahead and talk to the coporate office now. You've got enough to file a complaint with them...

You are gonna have to be the one who holds them accountable...

Hell yes, you are. I got pissed at my dealer just by reading your story. Mine has been pretty good to me aside from telling me I'd get a military discount then telling me the opposite thing a few weeks ago.

So I ordered back in November. I wasn't exactly sure where I was in line as the salesman was extremely non-committal about it all. It worried me but I figured it would all work out. Several months went by and I hadn't heard anything. So mid-January I decided I wanted to switch from a 1SS to 2SS. I first tried calling on the 17th. I didn’t want to hound him so I just called every few days until I finally was able to get ahold of him on the 26th. He said he’d put my change in but it would take a few days. Long story short, it never got put in. I found out (on 2-9) because of that old thread that had ‘dealerinfo’ looking up people’s order status. I then was fed up so called back got ahold of the salesman on his cell. He said he was out at a tent sale and couldn’t really help me so I called the dealership and asked to talk to the GSM. He put the change through for me no problem. While I had him, I wanted to confirm that they were going to do supplier pricing. He seemed caught off guard but said “sure”.

A couple days later (the 11th) I got the only contact I’ve ever had with them that they initiated (rather than me hounding them). I guess the manager mentioned the supplier thing to the salesman and he didn’t think we agreed to that. Long story short, I took “incentives” to mean supplier counted but they did not. Whatever. It is what it is. I’ll do MSRP.

A few weeks later, the 23rd, I decided to change the color (IOM is sexy). I decided to skip out on even bothering with my salesman and just called and had the GSM change it. He obliged and it was done.

Later that week, I decided to stop in and see what was going on and try to see what, exactly, was going on with my order and pick up a color chart, etc. Got some good info including exactly what orders were ahead of me, etc. One had been submitted and was already at 3000 and 3 more were ahead of me at 1100. I asked him about allocation but he had no clue whatsoever. He tried telling be that they got allocation every week and basically just put orders through and then it was up to GM to accept them or not. I knew this was BS so just said “uh huh… ok… whatever.” But at least I got the info I wanted so all was good.

I talked to the manager on March 17th and he said they were supposed to have one allocation later that week and a few more later in the month and that he would call me when it was time to put my order through. Cool.

Later, I found out from the forum member who was the first order that they screwed up his order. After going back and forth with them, they ended up reordering his car… using an additional allocation ahead of mine. I found out that they had two allocations last week. Since I had the order numbers for the cars ahead of me, I asked one of our resident dealers to lookup the orders that were ahead of me and see their status. Only one of the orders was at 2000, the other 2 were at 1100 still. So basically instead of there being no cars ahead of me as I thought there should’ve been, there’s two.

Armed with this information, I tried contacting the manager. Found out that he was out on vacation for the next 10 days. Salesman would be back the next day so I called the next day. He was with a customer. Ok so I left a message with the receptionist. After a couple hours with no return call, I called back. The receptionist said she gave him the first message but would tell him I called again. Ok…. So I never heard back. I decided to try the digital route and sent him an email this past Wednesday. It’s now Friday night and nothing.

After that long winded story, am I justified in being annoyed? Should I light into the manager on Monday? Am I overreacting? They’re owned by a large corporation so if I don’t get the answers I’m looking for I’ll be contacting their corporate office. I guess I can use this post as a basis for my letter to them. I KNOW they put one extra order ahead of mine and I get the feeling that they stuck at least one more order ahead of mine and not being able to even get ahold of my salesman or the store GSM is extremely frustrating.

Thanks guys!
Dude... IM the same EXACT way right now. I sent an email MONDAY to have a change to my order, its now FRIDAY... i havent heard anything.

It seems unless im next up to get the car they dont give a shit.

I'm going down tomorrow with my prick (he isnt one to be pushed around easily) of a father to see if we cant work something out....

I would be looking for a new dealer, they sound incompetent or aloof, neither of which will get you a car let alone the right car.

I have a feeling the numbers are likely to change when you try and take delivery if they in fact get you a car. Amazing how little they have to do to get you the car and how bad they **** it up.

Sounds like they are dis-respecting your authoritay. Seriously, you are in a situation now, you should have switched dealers at the beginning when you got NUMB responses....but you are all in now. Stay calm though, screaming like a bitch may cause you more headache. I would talk to the salesman and say,

"listen, I have connections that can check on what is ordered out of here and when. I do not like what he is telling me. He says that this is what happened.......(your story here). If this continues and you continue to give me numb responses, I will write a letter and talk to corporate to get a satisfactory response, and it will get ugly. I am also a part of a large forum of Camaro nuts, and I will make sure to highlight you in a negative light. Trust me, you do not want a thread dedicated to you right now."

I would be pissed BUT realize that your dealer holds all the marbles at this time. He knows it too. There isn't much downside for him either way. Not good, but they have you by the short hairs here. Whaadyagonnadooahbowdit?

I hope the car comes in the way you wanted it. If the car is right, take it and never go back. Let them know how frustrated you are if it would make you feel better.

If the car/deal is wrong, you need to get your deposit back. Go find a dealer that will give you the deal you want IN WRITING before you re-order the car.

-Mark.

It seems to me that in todays world "customer service" means nothing, do people even understand what that expression means? It isn't just the dealerships and here are just a couple of recent examples.

1) Phoned my bank branch to get money moved from one account to another, got voice mail, left a message with my personal banking advisor explained that I need it transferred as I was making a car purchase middle of the month (April). 2 weeks later I got a call back saying she had been on holidays her voice mail said she was in the office the day I called.

2) Have been waiting three weeks to hear back from my insurance broker regarding the insurance premiums for my new Maro. Least they could do is call me back and say they are still working on it.

3) Not to leave dealerships out of this cause they are probably the worst of the bunch...I currently lease a 2005 Honda CR-V and have purchased or leased 7 vehicles from this dealership in the last 10 years. I normally don't keep my leased vehicles for the full 48 months and roll them over at about 38 months. So back in the fall I went in to have a service done and decided to talk to the General Sales Manager about rolling my lease over. I explained that I wasn't really happy with the body style changes they had made to the CR-V but out of loyalty I would lease another one from him. Now this is the same guy I have dealt with since 1994. Normally I would pay PDI and exchange keys and be out the door. He goes out side to have a look at my vehicle and to be honest it was a little dirty that day, more so then my vehicles would normally be. I have one little ding in the front fender and the rest is just normal wear and the odometer at the time read 38,000 kilometers...basically a brand new vehicle. He comes in and says well its in rough shape, gonna need to be painted.... gonna have to have $5000 and even with that your lease will have to go up from $465.00 a month to $568.00 a month. I was like are you serious. I had some choice word to say and left the dealership...I will be buying the lease out at the end of the month for $16,800 and the the odometer now reads 40,469. This is the vehicle in question, you be the judge, does it look like it is in rough shape to you? By the way, just Zaino'd

I think you are justifed UCF in going over everyones head although, given your story, I suspect that you will not be the first to do so and if that is the case, it didn't have much effect.

First, you all know I'm a dealer and I'm here trying to help so please don't have me put my flame suit on.

You said it from the start:

"So I ordered back in November. I wasn't exactly sure where I was in line as the salesman was extremely non-committal about it all. It worried me but I figured it would all work out."

First mistake. You can't have this go on from the start. If you are going to leave $1000 with anyone, your buyers order should have at least stated what number order you were.

I can't answer for any other dealers but if one of the 15 customers I took $1000 from asked me to prove to them where they are in line, NO PROBLEM! I could prove it in a court of law if need be. No shenanigans here at Bast Chevrolet.

In fact, I am turning away customers who want to order Camaro's now because I can't give them a reasonable expectation of a delivery time.

Is your dealer being helpful? Definitely not. But here you are and now the ball is in your court. I personally think it sucks because I know how helpful you have been to all of us here on the forum.

It just started bad from the start. Maybe the best payback is just wait for the car whenever it gets there and just remember that little piece of paper called "CSI Survey".

That's your payback.

Same situation here. I called for the status and intended to cancel if I was still 1100, salesman said my car was being built but no idea what the status code was. So no final review before submission? I don't have any idea what my order status is, if the order is right, ect... Not to hyjack your thread just letting you know your not alone. You've got two options, they're not going to suddenly become sales professionals, so you either reduce your anticipation a couple of notches and learn to expect less or find a new dealer. On the bright side, this is still the best buyers market in our lifetime and will be for the forseeable future. In a few months you'll have your leverage back and paybacks are a B*tch.
