I believe the surrounding area of the grille actually angles in. The above picture is just a quick photoshop attempt without a stellar source image.

Oh, one thing to note about the grille is that it comes painted a dark grey. I'll be painting mine unless I decide the grey looks better.

Nice work, as usual Venom. I think I will be doing the same, including SS emblem.

IMO a grille without the Bowtie looks like a face without a nose

can we take the bowtie off the regular grille? and put it on the heritage grill?

No. The SS and RS badges for the factory grill are made to clip into place where they are on the factory grill. To put it on the Heritage Grill, I think you'd have to modify the back of the badge somehow

I took a good look at the grill badges the other day. They are actually attached to a bracket that attaches behind the grill. This means that anyone who does not like the "SS" or "RS" badges can remove them without it looking like something is missing. The bracket will not fit through the Heritage grill without some modification but that's only if you want the emblem mounted exactly as it is on the production grill. You will probably be able to put the original production "SS" and "RS" emblems directly onto the Heritage grill.

With respect to putting a center mounted "SS" or "RS" emblem on the Heritage grill, the emblems from a '69 SS without the Rally Sport grill will fit but not sure about the RS emblem because it is flat.

69 SS emblems will work on the center of this heritage grille? If that's true, it's a done deal! That grille and the old school SS emblem.....SWEEEEEEET!
