Dam that sucks

I would get wheel locks for mine but I had an experience with my 3rd gen were I took it to a shop to fix a flat. Turns out they ripped the Lock and they couldn't take off the lug nut. Ever since then I haven't used one but I might just consider it.

I see zero humor in it no matter how it was done.
It's very sad that a poor guy can not have something and some piece of garbage comes along and vandalizes it.

Wheel locks are easy to take off. You don't need a socket to fit. A just smaller socket with grooves or anything to fit by pressure takes them right off. Or they just break them off like they do in a shop (when you loose your lug key) If somebody wants something, it's hard to stop them unless you hire a body guard for your car or install all around video security, haha... People that steal suck.

if you dont have them do yourself a favor and get some wheel locks. It may not be 100% affective, but with some criminals it just might make them move on to the next car and save yours.

That is why I am so happy to have a garage.

The one nice thing is if he was wanting to change his wheels to other ones the stock wheels are 550.00 each. So he will get some good money from the insurance to get nicer wheels. And that is just the wheel not including the tire.

Agreed. If I ever caught someone doing this, I'd shoot them dead, drag their body in the house, then call the cops and claim castle doctrine.

I got put my new wheels put on about 2 weeks ago. I asked the tire shop about wheel locks and they said that "all" of the lug nuts sent with the wheels from Tire Rack were the locking type and took a tool that was sent with the wheels. Are these good or are they so common that a thieving bastard that does this for a living is most likely to have this tool, where I would need to put one locking lug of another type on each wheel?

I know people are saying to use wheel locks and I have as well in the past... but, you should know that there are thieves out there that will vandalize the car if they're presented with the inability to steal the item(s) they were after. Sometimes worse than the damage that would have been done simply taking the item. It's a tough choice either way.

People that steal just suck... I'd probably end up dead or in jail if I caught someone in the act of attempting this on mine.. I'm native Texan, we don't take kindly to theft.

I have seen this in the city, it cost a guy over $6k for new rims. tires and the damage to the car. No wheel locks either. The locks will not stop a thief, but as said before in this thread, the scumbag may move on to an easier target with no locks. Some of these bastards are a bit smarter than you think, they don't want to get caught, so its not worth the extra time to deal with a car with locks. If you really want to get cleaver, you can order 4 different sets of locks, with 4 different keys and put them on, but I just have one set, if they defeat them then hello insurance company. Good luck to all of us!
