Seems the folks who are bothered by AFM are bothered by it stock also. That might be your best guide.. if it doesn't bother you now you will be OK with either of these systems. Especially since you are not going to tune which also means no headers.

you definitely notice it mufflerless... it didn't bother me at ALL when I had the stock exhaust, it was terrible with the X-pipe/Pype's Bomb(mufflerless) axleback

so much that a tune I think is a MUST with this setup on a L99... I absolutely love the exhaust note, even on the stock tune when it was in 8 cylinder mode... the tune took care of all ill effects of an exhaust on a L99, it really doesn't drone bad, I can be on the highway doing 70, with the radio down and carry on a conversation easily

I WOULD TUNE OUT THE AFM. all exhausts sound bad going in and out of 4 and 8 cylinders

So are you saying that as soon as I pull out of the drive way to tapshift all the way up to 6th, back to 5th, then backup to 5th? Even though I may need to start out in 1st or 2nd gear? My understanding is that as long as the car is in Sports Mode, AFM is turned off.

I myself don't notice AFM kicking in or out either as far as noise with the exhaust. I can feel the hesitation plus feeling the transmission kicking down a gear or two, but as for as exhaust sound I don't hear it. I have been using Sports Mode all the time and then I don't feel AFM at all.

If you are not hearing the exhaust noise and it doesn't bother you then why try and kill AFM and lose a couple extra MPG. AFM is definitely on in sport mode also. But some claim they can turn it off by going manual and shifting down to 5th and then back up to 6th. Sounds like AFM is working well for your setup...

I don't really notice AFM now either. I haven't really been listening for it, or even know what to listen for. Tuning just isn't an option for me this soon...my car has like 150 miles on it I shouldn't have to blow my warranty because some exhaust makers can't tune out the sound of AFM. Corsa and Solo seemed to be able to do it. Why not others?

Yeah, I can confirm that AFM is definitely on in Sport mode. I did a muffler delete with 500 miles on my car. AFM switching is definitely happening in both Drive and Sport - can't miss the sound change at all. Haven't messed around much with Manual mode to see if I can disable it.

Getting a SOLO cat-back is on my list (right after buying a house with a bigger garage).
