Its getting a lot worst I think. I can feel something now when I hold the Shifter and let go of the clutch. But that only happens when the car is on and the gear is not engaged. if the gear is engaged I have another problem 1st to 2nd slips and if it doesn't slip it grinds. I hope my trany is not toast yet!! ![]() So if I replace the clutch do you guys think it will fix it? |

Well I don't see any parts listed in your sig block that would put your warranty at risk. Take it to the dealer and get it looked at before you end up with a catastrophic failure. I've seen some photos on here of how bad that gets and you don't want to be left on the side of the road..

TEAM LS3 OKCamaros Current Mods: ADM Race Intake ADM Race Scoop SW 2" LT Headers SW off road cats (cat delete) Magnaflow 3" Competition Catback 16483 R1 Concepts Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors Barton Flat Stick Shifter (polished) The Headers w/cat delete, and the lack of a CEL that is on while his vehicle is running suggest a Tune. Also, the short-throw shifter is a point of contention with GM....I have seen them deny a warranty claim on a transmission (1st and 2nd gear syncro's blown) due to a short throw shifter. Theyre reasoning behind it is as follows: A short throw shifter will decrease the amount of travel time between gears, therefore not allowing parts to slow down enough for a clean shift. I know not really what you wanted to hear, but I figure its best to be educated before getting burried by a dealer :/ |

I think it is a stretch to blame clutch problems on headers, possible tune, or a short throw shifter. Dealer has to be able to show a direct correlation between the aftermarket part and the damage. To average joe they may scare easily when the dealer tells them it's a no go because of those mods but persistance and being informed can make the difference.
To the original poster, read the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act thoroughly and have a copy when you go to the dealership. Try to find a local dealer that is used to working with people how mod. Again, based upon what I am seeing, they'd be hard pressed to deny a warranty claim . They may try to but stand fast and hold your ground. What I see in your sig is not going to cause clutch or transmission damage. Dealers install short throw shifter all the time as an RPO so that's not going to fly and your power adders even with a tune are not strecthing the capacity of the stock transmission. If you tuned it and had an engine failure that might be a diferent story. One last thing, contact Barton and tell them what you have going on and see if they have had any problems with warranty claims on people running their shifters. Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket partunless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle(per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) .

I took my car to a shop in Tulsa (CarFx) couple days ago and their diagnostic wus the sound the clutch make is just normal wear and tear from DD'ing the car and racing it. But the clutch they said wus still good and that it's nothing I should need to worry about. And the slippage I was experiencing wus caused by my almost worn out tires.
(I really need to slow down on the burnouts! lol)But we still don't know what the causes the 2nd gear grind under heavy acceleration. :( Going back there next week for a Dyno Tune.
