I suspect that since I've only had this car and the manual trans for 10 days after many years not driving one that I'm still a little tentative on a lot of the times getting going from lights, stop signs, etc, and the dreaded 1-4 skip shift is kicking in semi-frequently. That only freaks me out worse, thinking I messed up the shift or something so that's gotta go. Ordered an eliminator from Apex a couple hours ago. Now I'll just have to figure out how to get the car up high enough off the ground to install it. Something tells me that the ramps I used to use with my 1LT won't work with this 2SS with the GM GFX on it.

I had mine tuned out when I got the car tuned, it drove me crazy. Didnt come on frequently but was super annoying when it did! Cost me nothing extra so why not. If I didnt go that route though it would still be worth the money...

I should have done this at day one of ownership. Also only took 20 min or so to install. Absolutely worth it.

THIS!!!!!!!!!

Initially, I told myself that I could live with it. But just recently I almost got hit because skip shift engaged and I was already in the middle of shifting and couldn't put it into any gear that had power!

The skip shift only activates when the car is warmed up and your MPH is between 14-19mph. So if you always accelerate past 20 MPH in 1st gear then you'll never see the skip shift again.

Correct ! My $10 ebay special has been sitting in the glove box 6 months now and it can stay there until my 1st oil change.
It's Very easy to shift around the skip.

Other options:

Start out in 2nd.
Practice 1st>>3rd shifting.
Double clutch and go to 2nd anyway.
If your getting a tune, definitely disable it.
Or put your big boy pants on and drive it like a man

Anyone near me that wants one fre,e PM me. I have the SLP one (wires pulled out but it's been repaired, and one from a vendor on here from long ago. it's not the SLP and I'm not sure the "brand". I don't like to ship free stuff, if I don't have to.

All are possible options, OR, for under $20 just slap the eliminator on and be done with it. Also, I very much prefer to "drive it like a man" but that's not always possible in city traffic, etc.

City traffic doesn't bother me, but I've been driving a stick since 73. I do have a couple of those eliminators sitting in a box because I was initially thrown off by the 1>4 thing, then it was like really?

I realize they serve a purpose for some. And the one comment I made was in jest and why the
