Um...these new paints are VERY soft. I recall a guy on the BMW Forums I was on having a ton of damage to his paint when a junk shower door stored in his garage had the tempered glass shatter. The car looked sandblasted where the glass struck the parked BMW. Imagine what would happen at highway speeds!

What you cant see are the chips all over the car except rear bumper from the flying glass and the damage it did.Paint chip marks everywhere. So many chips all over the car. Would you want just touchup paint on these spots? I SURELY DO NOT THIS CAR IS BRAND NEW Here some pics i took with my iphone after the incident ?

That sucks!! Good thing no physical injury.

I had to have car completely reprinted in the mid 90's from being caught in an F1 tornado.

How bad are the headlights?? If there not bad may be a good time for me to upgrade mine.

I know it hurts to see your car that way, but on the bright side you will get a better paint job than factory. I had my hood and trunk painted with new stripes and you can see the difference in quality with no imperfections in the new paint. My stripes are carbon flash metallic like your car.

OP - sorry about your car. You were able to get the truck's information, correct?

doesn't matter, they still paint it the same way. besides, a repaint devalues your car.

soft is not the right word. it is brittle. soft would imply it imperfects easily (swirls, marring, etc), which is does not at all. brittle implies little force is required to remove it, which is true.

bmw paint is extremely "soft" in that washing it even in the most careful fashion possible will still leave swirl marks.

Don't worry your car will be fixed. Sorry for what happened. I have had windshields smashed on the way to work due to road rash all over the highways.

Hopefully you don't have to pay for the repairs.

I got all information form the jerky tow truck company. Also yes the car is devalued but i will be suing for diminished value. Most people do not realize if you have no liability involving the accident and the car is new or a special addition like mine is you can sue for the value lost. This i am sure will be a slam dunk. The other insurance company has admitted total blame and 100% liability. It may take time but i will get the payment for my loss.
