You can do a cat back with high flow cats and still wont need a tune.

If you did axelback and left the resonator it would help but you'd still notice. I think I heard if you keep it in sport mode or something the AFM is never activated so that's an option if there is truth there. |

Guess I'm just not 100% sure yet, and like someone said, it's hard to judge real life sound from youtube. Even though there are 3 systems specifically designed for the L99 (Corsa, Solo and MBRP) I've still found threads where people complain about the AFM noise. At this point, the AFM sound isn't really noticeable (or doesn't bother me) at all. I'd hate to make a very expensive mistake.
I don't mind the stock sound, it's just that it's a little quiet. For now, I'm going to do a CAI. That should give me more growl up front, which may be exactly what I'm looking for. It'll probably net me a few more HP than and exhaust would, so that's an added bonus. Maybe I can check out some meets when the weather is nicer and hear some examples in person. OR tune out AFM, but that would be far into the future.

Trust me I was were you are now and here is what I did. Since I am not really looking to improve performance I did the following:
Resonator delete - replaced with straight Pipe Muffler delete - Replaced with Magnaflow 14" comp mufflers BAM there is a cat back for 370 dollars and it sounds great |

As I am an LLT owner, i have no doubt that the best aftermarket exhaust option is the CORSA catback system... BEAUTIFUL tone; no drone in the interior.
Had the Flowmaster AT and the drone was unbearable even though it sounds good and has the classic mucle growl. Many of my SS owners have removed their catalytic converters and it sounds wow! Theres many options really but all depends on personal taste. |

Do you still have AFM or did you tune it out, or is it a manual?

I have the A6 2SS CAI inc and axleback Borla. I really like my sound until the AFM kicks in when you are just minding your business about 30-40 miles per hour. The crappy 4 cylinder sound makes you want to throw up. At highway speeds 70 and up you never hear the AFM and I have never had a drone that others talk about. I went ahead and installeD the pistol grip shiffter with the paddles built into the shifter. With the new shifter AFM does not kick in at any speed. Of coarse if I really want to give it hell, I move back to regular sport mode and let the automatic take care of the shifts. I am getting closer every day to biting the bullet and getting a Jannetty tune to turn off the AFM. Hope my input helps you get an idea what to expect if you replace the OEM mufflers.
