Nobody has ever asked if I had a 6 or 8. Except for one obnoxious ass, every soul who has seen it has liked it. I still get people wanting to have their picture taken next to it.

I hear ya on the 6 or 8. I have an SS and it gets annoying, but what I find interesting is more people ask me about my Jeep than my Camaro

Back in 2009 I told people that walked up that this was the new Chevrolet Volt coupe

It was about 50/50 whether they bought it or not.

To the OP, it's probably because they like your car but don't know what else to ask. The "do you like it?" and "does it go fast?" are just as annoying. I use "it's beautiful" and "I love it" remarks when complementing someone else's car. When driving, a simple thumbs up will do

The question I get asked more than is it a V6 or V8 is if it is a 6 speed. I just LOL and say they are all six speeds.

When I am out driving, And someone passes me, I feel bad for the v8 camaros because this guy will go around and tell everyone that he just beat a v8 camaro even though I have a v6. The common person doesn't know the difference between the 6 and the 8. But whenever anyone becomes disinterested by my car being a v6, I take a step back, take a deep breath, and soak in the beauty of my "more-than-capable" Camaro weather a 6 or an 8, it is still a camaro.

When they ask me what it's got in it I say "3.6 liter, 312 hp and some change with the CAI on it" and if we get around to "it's a v6", they're impressed by this point. If they say anything about it's not a v8 I just say "well I don't have to compensate for a small penis so I'm good with 312 hp." and go on my merry way.

I've also noticed at car shows and meets, that a few, not all, guys who look at cars ask stupid questions to which they already know the answer...Don't be so thin skinned!!!..Mopar guys can get dissed for not having a Hemi...etc. Its not all just about V6,V8 Camaros...
If you want to sort of fish for compliments, you gotta sometimes expect the opposite....
Camaros? I love them all!!!

Likely they are asking the 6 or 8 question is coming because the vast majority of the public is unable to tell the difference between the two visually. I blame that on GM.

I usually get asked if it can beat a mustang. Some people just can't comprehend how slow a '05 mustang GT is.
