It's from the different paint dyes and different drying temperatures since they are painted at different facilities.
It's pretty common, mostly noticeable on the reds and oranges. Hopefully, for your guys sake, they don't all come out as bad as the pic. |

Just part of the problem with GM. Somebody posted that the Corvette ZR-1 has the same problem? That car costs over 100K! That is ridiculous!

Might be a QC issue but I didn't see it on CFPC_2010's Wife's car. Even the engine cover looked to match perfectly.
Keep in mind that IOM is a very dynamic color so that may have had something to do with it in this picture (although it does look pronounced to me as well in this case). A cloud covered up the sun briefly and you could easily notice a color change. |

Back in the 80's you'd see a difference where the plastic meets the metal, but i havn't seen that in a long time.

No need for fbodfather. There really isn't an issue. Maybe one car got out mismatched in which case the dealer should get it taken care of. I've seen no evidence of a widespread problem.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if we noticed it before or not. The fact that it was allowed to happen for any reason is no excuse for any car.

Are we really going to freak out over ONE picture from a cell phone camera in an oddly lit room posted by someone that drives a GT500?!?!?!?!?!?!?
For god sakes... even if this ONE CAR really is messed up, find me ONE other one that sports the same issue. Shit happens! You should never take delivery of a car with mismatching panels. Your dealer should either fix it or order a new vehicle if this happens to you. |

bicker bicker
![]() The bumpers get flexible paint so they can take a hit, flex, and not crack the paint. It's the 5mph bumper law. I saw another IOM pic a while ago where it was even more obvious. Most look fine, some do not. Inconsistent quality control at the bumper supplier.
