So for example:

My 2ss/RS vert msrp was something like 43xxx. I have 4000 miles on it. So they would buy it back for that 43xxx?

How do you know? Serious question.

I told my service manager that I was completely done and that I want a car that works. He contacted the GM rep.

You need to make sure you understand the lemon law in your state. You should then open a case with your states better business bureau, and possibly file the required documents for your state's lemon law process. In Florida the two processes are separate.

If you play by the rules and have solid documentation of your issues, it should be relatively painless. I can only speak for myself. GM has stood by their product and I feel they will continue to do so. That's why I decided to stick with Camaro instead of a different car.. .like a vette

What's not painless is the hassle and time our of my dialy schedule to address these issues.

I am getting a trade up which is different then a buyback. GM asked the dealership for a trade value on my 2011 vert. It was something like 32K. GM then tossed enough cash (voucher) on top so I can get into a new 2011. I decide to jump a year to a 2012 vert 45th and pay $3k. With the deal they are tossing in the ground effects kit painted to match. I started the BBB Lemon Law but was able to work out a deal I was happy with.

I have researched the lemon law for our state (WA) and we qualify on two different sets of criteria so we're set there. Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. I'm crazy about keeping paperwork so we're set there. At least I have a starting point or direction (while my car is in the shop...again). This time it isn't top related but they claim the water issue is a body seam leaking. That'll be the third major thing - first was teh clutch cylinder going out (4k miles), top (6K miles) and now this at 7,800 miles.

If they offered me a new comparable Camaro to replace it I'd snatch it up in a minute! We LOVE our car.

How many miles were on your vert that you traded? Were they willing to negotiate/work with you on the price?

I only ask because I am going to be going from a 2011 2ss/rs vert to a 2012 2ss/rs coupe.

Wife's car is a '11 2SS Vert we bought as a "GM Certified" used car. Here in AZ, we have very little to bargain with when it comes to used on a lemon law. Thus far though, the dealer has been exemplary in making us happy. We feel welcome there, and have they've always got it right.

BUT --- I have NOT attempted to let them, or anyone else, replace the top - yet. It's on a "we owe" slip due to a cosmetic issue on the passenger side with the rub marks and a small 4mm rub hole in the outer canvas layer. The top goes up and down flawlessly, fits tight as a boot camp bunk, watertight and no wind noise. I'd hate to open the can of worms....so we'll live with it until something major comes up. Got a smokin' GM warranty on the car through GM as a result of several problems found when we bought it, they've all been addressed and replaced with new parts, so far so good.

Chevy bought back my 2010 due to excessive break squeal. They charge you a "usage fee" of 25 cents per mile. So it's MSRP - (mileage x 0.25) = buy back

My car had 3800 miles on it. I am in the military so I did not get to enjoy it as much as I like. Another part of the Lemon Law is days at dealership (out of car). As for price, you would still need to work that out with your sales guys... My sales manager was awesome! I do not see why they wouldn't toss you into a coupe at no cost. I would never want to get away from the vert--- Just love it way toooo much..
