I seriously doubt, unless you spoke with the actual owner (and even then probably not) that you would get anything other than ""We're not closing!".

They could run out of funds mid-project, so I wouldn't assume it was entirely safe.

My dad order his camaro in October and he just recently found out that the dealership was closing, its were he bought all his cars. So they just say will transfer you too a bigger dealership in the area. Now I don't know where he is on the list of who gets there's first since he moved places.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen on the news where a company expands or remodels and midway throught the project they run out of money and their credit is frozen.

Hapening more often now. One day the contractor is installing the wood floors and the movers are bringing in the fine corinthian leather sofas, and the next day the business is closed and bankrupt.

I would be royally screwed as I already traded four cars in, they have already sold three of them, and I have no cash for them, just a set of papers saying what I traded and what they were giving me for them towards the price of the Camaro. I must admit, I ordered mine from the largest dealer in Columbus but, I am still going to be very nervous until I actually get it.......I am not having such great luck with dealerships as of late, I took my 86 El Camino with 4000 original miles on it (my first brand new car ever)to another dealer to have the check engine light looked at, ended up with over $8000 worth of body damage when their ceiling fan in the service area fell from the ceiling and landed on the roof of my car. They are going to fix it and I trust it will be done right but, there goes my totally original un-molested survivor vehicle.

Ooohhhh, boy....... please don't take this personal, but you never make a deal that only exists on paper, as apparently this one seems to, but give up your end of it without collateral in return. Essentially, you are buying your Camaro on the dealer's credit. Ouch.

This is what my dealer told me

Quote:
Yes that is true they are closing 42% GM dealer Body and Idling 13 plants of which most are going to be Pontiac, Saturn, Saab and Hummer. There will be some Chevrolet Dealer victims, but this will be more to attrition and not to forced closing. You will see some Major Market Metro dealerships forced to close like Denver and bigger markets. Small town dealers like us will be the safest because if we are not here they have no representation. Hope this clarifies.

I wouldn't necessarily think this type of dealer would close either but they are built on high volume sales and this economy is likely killing them right now.

One example of this was Lawrence Marshall in Hempstead, TX. 40 acres of Chrysler, Ford, Hyundai, and GM vehicles that moved more than 9000 units annually. Closed 2 months ago.

The dealer I spent 30 Plus years buying from just spent gobs of money adding a Pontiac showroom to his Chevy building.

No Way! pre orders were customer specific GM would just send the car to another dealer for you to pick up!
