Sorry to hear that, I have never heard of a jack failing like that, I am allways using my jacks on a regular basis (I do use jack stands once the car is up) I'm glad you are ok.

On a different note though, shouldn't Harbor Freight be responsible for the damage to your engine? If they sold you defective product (which they did because it broke first time you used it) then they are responsible for the damages.
Yah right, they will state manufacture defects and not seller and your case is with the manufacture. I don't ever buy crap from Harbor Freight anymore. Their tools break, the hoses leak and as you can see in the OP, the jacks suck. There is a reason the prices are so cheap. btw, sorry to hear about your car bro.

Harbor freight is gOod for tarps and tools your going to toss. I use there pulley puller and stuff I plan on using once or twice. A jack and jack stands which if it fails can kill you is not the place to skimP. I also always place a few 4x4s under the car as a last resort do I don't die.

Broke the a/c condenser, power steering Len, radiator line, and the top radiator mounts. $800 to fix it all and jack is busted. Sunday at 11:00pm - flat tire. Take it to be fixed Today and the hole is in the sidewall, so,it's unfixable. I had to buy a new tire. The capper is on the way home today I GOT REAR ENDED!!!!!! I need to fix my karma or something.
I'd recommend not flying :(

:( sorry to hear about this, I think this qualifies as a " bad day " I never never never buy any tools from Harbor Fright that I would need to depend on, the tools they sell are very poor quality and not even worth the cheap price. The good part about this is that you were not working under the car when this happened, This could have been a lot worse. I have my doubts that Harbor Frieght would take any responsibility for this without going to small claims court or retaining an attorney. Small claims court might be an option for you as it doesn't cost too much to do, check with your local district attorney, they could advise you as to your local smalll claims limits etc. best of luck and buy " quality " tools in the future; especially if your saftey depends on it.

If I were you, I'd just lock myself inside my home, place bubble wrap around all sharp objects and sit in the middle of my living room floor. It will pass... tomorrow should be better

Exclamation

When I read Harbor Freight the first thing that came to mind is FAIL!!!!!!
Dude! what were you thinking when you were putting a $30k+ car on a two dollar jack?!?!?

Sorry, didn't mean to be come down hard on you, but to be honest with you, if I did that I would DEFINITELY not tell anyone in here or anywhere for that matter!

I feel bad it happened to you and that it was an expensive lesson for you, but at least you learned to go and get a quality jack.

I never go near ANY of my cars with a tool from them, in fact I actually never go into Harbor Freight.
