DIY?
Is the rotor hat something easy to remove and paint? Is this a DIY or a shop task? I really can't stand the rust, being on a Florida daily driver, and want it GONE.
Not that I am very specific about what goes on my ride... ![]() Thanks for bringing this up! Jason

Well it's part of the rotor. So you just have to remove the rotor. This could be done in a driveway over a weekend yea.

Thanks. I just checked a DIY, and I am not there yet, so I would use a shop. One more thing for the LIST.
I like this list. It's fun. ![]() Jason

It's even harder when you don't use credit cards. But that's for my own safety, I don't want to open that pandora's box

Yea i was going to say you have a 3k list today, it may be a 4k list tomorrow. lol. Just when my list gets to zero it seems to act just like a credit card, back up to 2k. But I do love it!

just put a light coat of grease every once in awhile on it AFTER you remove the rust form it with a wire brush or something. Ubless you WANT to paint it.

Grease will hold dirt and brake dust. Might become quite messy when it heats up.....

If you don't want to worry about spray painting it, you can buy the caliper paint at most auto stores that are brush on.

My car is not a DD and the rotors are perfect. They have never been wet and my car stays in a climate controlled garage.

We had the same problem with our new 2012 2SS right off the lot... took it to service, they removed rust and repainted with high temp paint, under warranty / or complimentary.
In my opinion this is a manufacturing defect that Chevy needs to fix. There is no excuse for this to happen to brake rotor hats that can be seen through the rims... |
