I think they both have potential to achieve this, but I'm still torn. You could upgrade the suspension on the SS, but I have a feeling it will still feel big and a bit clumsy when the road bends. You could upgrade the Evo easily to put out more power, but that big V8 can never be rivaled for 1/4 mile killing. I've ridden in the Evo a bunch of times, but I think I really need to drive both to get a feel for which will give me the biggest smile.
Two different driving expiriences. The Evo is one of the better handing cars you can buy in the US, with AWD which allows for some brutally hard launches with minor wheel spin and traction on all roads, an amazing aftermarket upside and an amazingly impressive DCT system. Think of the Evo as a Deer.

The Camaro is going to act more like a Bear. Little more sluggish, little more relaxed, little more comfortable. However, once you get it spitting and growling in the right direction the Evo, or Deer if you will, wont be able to keep up or get out of the way.

So it depends on your driving style, do you like to weave and dart around with precise and near perfect handling while being able to constantly push your car to its limits without worrying about spinning into a ditch, or would you rather drive a muscle car which is more laid back but more capable of pushing on the G-Forces.

Not the best looking cars in the world, but they are purpose built.

Yes it does.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I took the Evo X out for a spin last spring when they came out for the very first time. Its an unbelievably fast, incredible handling car. Pulls a 0.99 lateral G on the skidpad, and when you drive it, you can see why. You can point to any hairpin turn and just point the wheel, mash the throttle, and it will take it perfectly. Just absolutely insane. The turbo boost hits you hard as soon as you step on the gas with zero turbo lag. Unbelievable torque for a 4 cylinder car. Out of all the rice rockets I've driven, its hands down the fastest. The only Japanese car out there that's faster is the Nissan GTR. No other stock Japanese car can beat it except the GTR. With the long wait involved for the 5th gen, I strongly considered getting the EVO. But I cannot bail out now on the Camaro. They are two different types of cars. Both are very fast. But the Camaro has a style and presence that the Evo can never match.

Well thats not quite true, its 5.3 or 5.0 0-60 depending on if you get the Dual Clutch Auto or Manual, while the 2009 STi is 4.8 0-60, and the 370z is 4.7 0-60.

Believe it or not its the slowest out of the group in a straight line. Of course thats before the Reflash...

That's still basically a driver's race. And depending on which publication you read, I've seen 0-60 times as low as 4.8 for the Evo X with the 5 speed manual. Regardless, I think we can agree its a very, very impressive car. If there was no 2010 Camaro SS in existence, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

Last I checked I was having a hard time finding an Evo X that was selling for less than $40k. I could be wrong though. You're going to be very happy with the handling of this Camaro. It may not be AWD Evo tight, but it's good.

Also, has anyone ever notices that WRX/Evo guys talk all day long about how their cars handle and nobody can take them in the twisties blah blah blah, but all they ever try to do is straight line 1/4 mile runs? Food for thought.

How fast are you going at what degree of turn? That looks like some massive body roll.

Haha if you think thats bad body roll you should have seen the 07-08 Mustang's , 80's and 90's F bodys , M5 , M3 and mini Cooper's (one was 3 wheeling at this piont) , only car that looked flatter than mine was a 2009 Caymen S . Evo's are praticality stiff as a board ..

About 50 mph(best i car rember) , in a salom .
