the boss gets a whole new engine pretty much. Not just a hp bump and higher redline.

1LE stands no chance against a Boss on any track. It's an SS with a few borrowed ZL1 parts to help it out on the track but not to Boss levels.

fbodfather said to wait and see what this car can do before passing judgement. That being said its going to have its hands full. However, the 1LE lapped VIR in under 3 min, while the Boss LS did it in 3:02. So its going to be close for sure.

What do you get when you take GMPP's aggressive ASA camshaft - developed for the high-rpm world of circle-track racing - and slip it into an LS3 6.2L engine? The answer is 525 horsepower in one of our most powerful production-based crate engines - the new LS376/525.
The ASA camshaft is a hydraulic roller with .525-inch lift on both sides, along with 226 degrees duration on the intake side and 236 degrees on the exhaust side. Coupled with a tight, 110-degree lobe separation angle, it helps the engine deliver excellent throttle response and breath exceptionally well at high rpm. And for durability, we complement the cam with higher-rate valve springs.
Warning: This simple yet effective combination has an edge to it. You'll notice it in the idle quality and you'll feel it when the revs quickly climb. With 20 more horsepower than the larger-displacement LS7, it's definitely not for the timid!
You'll need tuning to make the most of the engine in a late-model GM vehicle. If you plan to use the LS376/525 in a vintage car, you'll need controller kit #19259261, which includes the throttle pedal to match its electronically controlled throttle body. I have seen all the press releases but, what sticks out to me is that the sub 3 min time has not been posted by VIR that i have ever seen.

ZL1 & Boss both are.

I would love for it to be able to beat a BOSS i assure you. I'm just going to be waiting to see it for myself before upgrading from my SS. Of course we are all only talking seconds here. The BOSS is only 10 seconds behind a ZL1

Fixed that for ya. The 2013 Boss is improved over the 2012, so it will be interesting to see what it will do at VIR.

I agree with others that this is a nice option for the Camaro but I would say it would be better to compare it to a Mustang GT with the track package than a Boss 302.

I was under the impression it was just different front and rear bumpers and a bit of a different interior. I didn't think they got any perfornance upgrades. I'd like to know as well.
