idk about where it should be unless the car has 450 something at the crank there is no correction on that. i have heard of factory freaks but it's a bit high.

LS1 F-bodies were underated too. If that's the case, that's not suprising. I thought Dyno Dynamics were conservative like Mustang Dyno. I know it's an inertia type.

Numbers do seem a bit high, but either way that's still impressive. Especially since the motor isn't broken in. The nice thing is the LS3 responds very well to even just basic mods. There are going to be a lot of nasty Camaro's out there soon!!!!

Wow I'd be quite ticked if the dealer put in 87 octane on my new Camaro SS

Great numbers but it doesn't mean much. I'm far more curious on how the car runs. Then we'll know something.

That's a misconception

Dyno Dynamics are load based dyno's, just like Mustang Dyno's.

They are better tuning tools, but the numbers they spit out are much more erratic. They can be made to show almost anything and most have corrections to get similar numbers you would see on a DynoJet, but are easy to fudge as well because the load based dyno's have much more criteria to fill in while DynoJets have MUCH less variables.

BTW, the 364 rwhp we saw before was on a DynoJet and was corrected to SAE. This dyno run seems as if it wasn't (probably STD) but even if it were corrected to SAE, it is not directly comparable to dyno runs that are typically seen on the net (DynoJet).

Also, another note. The LS3 is not underrated, its SAE Certified, it can't be underrated. It must make within +-1% of its rated power.

Do you have the SAE spec that says that? I hear that alot (it can't be underrated) but nobody can show where it says that it has to be that close. It is not that I think it is overrated, I would just like to see the spec.

http://auto.ihs.com/news/newsletters...n-standard.htm

http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/

hopefully the OP will come back and tell us about the correction. before people start expecting 450+ hp camaros.

All that document says it is at least what they say it is. No where on there does it say it has to be within 1%. Does not say it cant be more. Dont get me wrong, not saying the Camaro has 450hp. Like you said hope we get some clarification on that dyno run. Ray think you meant underrated. That is why there is that test. So manufactures cant come out and overrate their cars by saying it has 500hp, when its really 400.

I would think to get certified and the requirement is within 1% that would mean it can't be any less than 1% of the stated figure. So if you are stating your HP is 500 it can't be less than 495 to be certified. I know the original purpose was to protect consumers from being cheated by misrepresenting values as being higher than they actually were. But if they actually were higher than stated that's not cheating anybody; you're getting more for your money than you thought (or they stated) you were.

I've always interpreted certification as being a guarantee of an "at least" value; but that's just me.

So, we now have 2 runs on 2 cars on 2 different dynos, with 20 hp difference? I would not be surprised if the third puts 374 to the ground.
