Get on the dean's list and stay there, and keep you're driving record clean. I've got two kids in college and one in high school, and they save about 15% due to grades. Plus none has ever had a ticket or accident.

With State Farm, you also get multi-car discounts being with the same insurance on all the vehicles in the household. As for listing someone else as the primary, there's more to it than that. First off how many legal drivers are there in the household as compared to vehicles? For example, I have 5 vehicles plus a motorcycle with 5 drivers (2 adults- 3 kids). Every person in my household has to be rated on a vehicle because there's an equal number of drivers to vehicles. So one kid has his own older car which is in my name and his so he is primary on it. The other two kids are rated on the oldest vehicles as primaries, and the wife and I are primaries on the two new cars.

So if your residence is still technically with your parents and they have an older vehicle you can be rated on, you can and still drive the Camaro fully covered. One of your parent's names will have to be on the title in order to do this. Once you decide to move out, the car can be easily re-titled to you only. IL doesn't charge sales tax when transferring ownership between family members.

You want to avoid being rated as the primary on the Camaro, it's going to cost you the most based on the cars you mentioned as being in the family. You'll need to verify all this with your insurance and state. But this is something else you can check to see if you can save a few bucks on insurance.

Good luck.

Keep your head on straight, no speeding or showing off you will be fine. I was 18 when I got my 1st Camaro too, just 30 years ago!

Just so you know, my insurance is $1200 a year on a V8 and I'm 20.

I don't remember what it was with my V6, but I know the insurance only went up maybe $20 from the V6-V8.

For my V6, and two additional cars (only full coverage on the camaro though), I was paying $140 a month. I sold one of my additional cars, but also got married, and I'm still paying about $140 a month for a full-coverage Camaro 1LS and my old corolla just has liability insurance. Both have roadside assistance. This is with Allstate.

someone18, you will LOVE the 2LT.....I know, its what I have....lol. oh and btw.... Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

It's no difference from driving another car. I was driving my dad and brothers trucks till I got my camaro. And honestly I find it easier to drive my camaro. As for not getting tickets just don't get on it that much which is hard. But enjoy it every once and awhile that's why your buying it right lol

If you get it congrats, but if I had 25 grand I would put it into a growth stock mutual fund and drive something else. Let it sit there for 25 years and will have more money than you can imagine.

I used to drive a Tacoma ( :( ) and it didn't take much time to adjust to the Camaro. Only adjustment was the added power

My insurance is $73/month ($876/year) and I'm 20. So if you do what others have suggested in this thread, like put your parent as the primary on it, you can save a lot of money.

If you're paying cash for the car outright, you should be able to pull off a 2LT with what you've saved, out the door... if not, find another dealer.

OMG that's about what I'm paying for 3 cars, full coverage on two of them, and the maximum amount of insurance I can get. funny thing is though, the other car I carry full coverage on is a 2007 altima 2.5s, which has a KBB value of about 13k. it costs me about $20 more per 6 months to insure it than it does my 2012 camaro. IIRC, it's 260 for the nissan and about 235 for the camaro.......for a 6 month policy.
