on 2012s with 2SS they're painted paint color. I didn't even notice it until after i bought the car.
there is a GPS there already...
How do you think you get ONSTAR turn by turn navigation?

The fin has been an eyesore, IMO, since 2009. You'll notice that most all GM vehicles made since the late 2000's have a fin of some sort for XM/OnStar.

One notable vehicle which does NOT have the fin -- but has XM and OnStar -- is the Corvette. On the Corvette, the antenna is part of the side mirror assembly.

I gave up being vocal about the topic two years or so ago, but the cost to integrate the same setup in the Camaro would be immaterial in the grand scheme of things. Yet, the sharkfin continues sticking out like a sore thumb.

thanks.
Reception is a little worse, but it's probably fixable if I just took the tome to adjust the antenna placement. Haven't really had time to work on it.

So what did you do with the left over hole after removing it? Did you have it sealed and painted?

Mine's staying put...don't use On-Star or XM....so I'm just keeping it for its aerodynamic/handling properties!...lol...I knew it was there when I bought it...its no big deal to me.

Well you see....if you remove the shark fin....then you might have a hard time controlling your vehicle. I'd recommend keeping the fin on to help with aerodynamic stabilization.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like having the shark fin on mine. Thinkin' about getting a painted one from my good friend Lupe, with River City Creations & Lighting...aka overhaulengines.

Currently I sealed it with a plug and some roofing tar to make it water tight. But a member made me a flush mount piece from aluminum. Just haven't had time to install it yet.
