You'll get no argument from most of us here... they have to sell cars and make the best margin possible, but it doesn't mean we have to buy them... I don't get upset at them for Dealer Markup... I just move on.

There are also dealers that don't do Dealer Markup and they advertise that. It's possible they could get more volume this way to make up for the ones who charge more. I prefer to take my repeat business back to these guys during times of high supply and low demand...

I guess I should clarify myself......you guys are right. If people are willing to pay that much, then thats their problem and the dealers have the right to ask whatever they want. The dealership I have always gone to has had markups but never once have I even paid MSRP. But I don't like the stories of serious buyers being turned away for greed. I know of one dealer here in VA that had markups on their collection of 4 brand new Cobras in 2004, and refused to go anywhere below 5K over.......those cars sat while buyers were turned away. In the end, the dealers suffered as the cars stayed on their lots for months.

And I would imagine that marking up a car and having no takers for 6-9 months would affect future allocations for that dealership. Maybe not but I will never pay a mark-up even if I were a millionare. That's just me, I prefer to spend my money wisely, and of course the ones with deep, deep pockets don't care. In today's economy I think they will be far and few between. With the exception of pro-ball players, rock stars or rappers, you can see what I mean.

People will try anything, if the get away with it even one time thats a nice profit.

The dealers are just taking advantage of the hype and the firsters, no one is making you buy now.

It would appear the market is a little soft for the ZL1, considering the limited production and the newness....Makes one wonder what the future used market holds?

Paying MSRP is still too much for ANY car.

Price

You have to be careful what you pay for any car, look at all the Viper buyers who bought the cars on speculation years ago, garaged them and drove them nearly not at all and they are taking a bath on them on the used market. If you pay over sticker, best drive it until the tires fall off to get your moneys worth.

If I had not got supplier price on the 2013 order I was going to throw down $57,000 snipe on that car. be interesting to see if they let it sell and what it goes for.

that is the first one that could actually sell on ebay I think.

I saw the silver one in WPB a few days ago. The sticker is 56,600 and they had a 10k market adjustment sticker in the window. That is the dealer's first ZL1, and the allottment was promised to me well over a year ago, and I backed out.
I decided to keep my SS and supercharge it, and I couldn't be happier.
Car looked awesome in person!!!
Happy bidding.
