Hey Xyient911,
By themselves I'd say they all suck for the strip because you have instant torque and therefore instant traction issues. They all make so much torque down low they require other mods to your suspension, tires, etc to launch effectively. These other mods add up to thousands and 10s of thousands quickly. You might want to look into a Centri or a Turbo set-up if you are building just for the 1/4, since their power comes on later. Are you L99 or LS3? What horsepower level are you targeting? Are you doing the work or is a shop doing the work? What is your budget to spend right now? These questions will help you decide between the kits. |

Pd blower cars are awesome. Centrifugal blowers are awesome. My procharger has the street manners of a turbo. Under 4000rpms, only 3psi of boost. 4000rpms and up it builds to 9.5 at rev limiter of 6200 and pulls like a freight train and doesn't stop till you let off.
I don't smoke the tires off the lone like a pd car. I actually love my choice. I'm sure I'd be happy with a pd blower. But procharger it is. Iats are good as well. Mpgs are really good too. Whichever way you go, add in suspension, gauges, fuel system, and injectors. If you do all that you might as well add a cam. If you don't have the supporting mods like headers and an exhaust, you will need those too. |

Keep asking for opinions, but by all means form your own opinion after listening to all the input. Its not a small decision to supercharge your Camaro and hit the dragstrip, its more like an expensive commitment with inherently expensive risks. |

I have gone the turbo route on my car but you can make virtualy unuseable power with any of them.
I really like the Whipple from a looks and performance standpoint on PD blowers. I have heard seen excellent results from Centri. also. Just look at Matt w/ECS. From a straight power standpoint, go turbo. Even though you can make stupid power with a turbo set up, it will cost more and I think it's harder to get everything in sync to go fast, even with the additional power. If your goals are under 750rwhp, any of them will get you there easy. Past 800-850, most of the std PD's start to run out of steam. Over 1000, there are 2 cars on the 1000hp list on this board, 1068rwhp w/twins @20psi and a 1017rwhp Vortech centri @17.5psi. (Both cars are running 427's) Biggest thing, set you goals, then plan on a little more. My car made 650/750 with a single 67mm @7psi but we are putting on a 76mm this week. Am I looking to make a lot more power? No, but a little later on, who knows. This way I have room to grow if I want, and I'm not maxing out what I have.

Great post. OP, I will be going PD... probably Whipple for lows. Not much of a strip guy, but I've got a decent suspension once I do coil overs. The PDs seem to be more fun around town because they will chirp you a bit at the lights if you want... I also like the look of the PDs, the centris look a bit busy (I know that stuff isn't important to most people.. but when you show the car you factor appearance in as well.)

I always laugh at the no torque down low, only for the drag strip argument. It's total BS. I like the drivability of a centri, doesn't effect gas mileage negatively (If your concerned about that), no need to run a lot of boost to make power, more efficient power, no heat soak problems, etc...

I see your in Pinellas.....about 15-20 minutes to our shop. Stop in or PM me and we can give you all the options and match the build to what you want the car to do.

Your point?..the post was regarding a PD being garbage at the track. Reading is fundamental.

You are the one dropping "reading comprehension" on other posters... yet Black stated "By themselves I'd say they all suck for the strip because you have instant torque and therefore instant traction issues. They all make so much torque down low they require other mods to your suspension, tires, etc to launch effectively." And like a jerk, you replied with "You don't get out much". Black made no statement to what kind of power a TVS can put down, only that for launching, OP would need supporting mods. That 8 second Camaro is on huge radials and thousands of dollars in suspension mods. So your statement about an 8 second Camaro in comparison to what OP will do with a S/C is absolutely irrelevant. In fact, that car is a car only a handful of members on this website will ever achieve... After you told Black "he doesn't get out much"... now here you are blasting me saying I don't apply suspension mods. As soon as I added only 60 hp, I added springs, sways, complete bushing kit, subframe brace... To date, I have added only approximately 100-110 hp, and now I have trailing arms, end links, strut tower, and coil overs going in... I must be a fool. So are you lacking attention to detail or is your issue reading comprehension as well? If you want to bash us for it, I suggest you practice it yourself and roll your eyes down to our sigs that show our suspension mods. As it appears, I have almost the exact same suspension mods you do in the next two weeks... the difference is I have a stickier tire... so how smart are we?
