Although I am being more mindful about break in now than I have been in the past, I do take advantage of the power on tap while operating the car. I went into this eyes wide open about the gas mileage. I had 4.88's on the street in my day. One could litteraly watch the gas needle move in direct correlation to how hard one depressed the gas pedal. I got 4-5 MPG then, now....with this car having gobs more torque and horsepower, I get approx. 11 MPG driving it briskly, which ain't too shabby I think for what's being delivered. Now, guys reporting approx. 20 MPG while operating their vehicle normally is pretty good as well I think. Not so long ago 8 cylinder Chevy's got around 15 MPG around town, and they were stock.

The Gas mileage does suck...I commute 20 miles one way to work and fill up the car every other day practically...I'm not too heavy footed either when commuting. I heard the mileage will get better with more mileage, right now I have 1300 miles on mine (#80)

All my driving has been city type driving. So far my mpg is holding at 13, not much different from my SS that gets 13.5. I'm just happy the price of fuel is dropping for the summer, all three cars take premium fuel.

I'm averaging 15-16MPG city/highway combined after about 3500 miles. When the miles were low, it was more around 13MPG.

I am a complete ignoramus when it comes to drivetrains, but why aren't there say 7 speed manuals? Have the 7th gear be for super fuel efficiency. This car has the the torque, right?

I am wondering why GM didn't put a .50 6th gear In also. Must be a top speed thing like a previous poster said. .50 would probably gain at least 1 mpg and prolly 2.

Four hour trip through the Rockies (Hwy 50) and got 23.5 MPG on the DIC. True I'm taking it easy during 1500 mile break-in but I think that's great! Sometimes on snakey corners using the paddles in (M) keeping the rpm up. When I can keep 400 horses under the hood and feed them like that I'll take it with a smile.

I would love to see what a 3.55 or 3.42 car would get. I think the ZR1 would get better milage with .5 5th but it would have a harder time breaking 200 than with its .67.

in my z06 I am spinning like 1,800 rpm at cruise speed. 3.42 rear .5 6th. 24-25mpg on the highway. around town you can drag it way down though if you get fat footed.

+1..My right foot weighs 250 Lbs....

I went on a 250 mile cruise today and averaged just under 18 MPG, and that was with a few spirited runs really pushing it hard. I seem to be getting better mileage now that I am through the 1500 mile break-in. I had 16XX miles before the cruise.

My Brembos are now properly burnished. I've been following engine break-in recommendations & keeping close tabs on OIL consumption. I'm also going through ALL the settings from TOUR to TRACK, gradually stepping up tempo as I normally would with ANY performance oriented vehicle. I'd say that if your rings are properly seated, you should be able to let her rip even prior to hitting 1.5K on the speedo.

I always dump original OIL after 1K miles & exceed OEM recommendations from that point on.

Mine is averaging with combined city and highway of 18.6 and just on the highway at 75 mph and got up to 22 mpg. I have been staying within the breakin specs and only have about 260 miles on her now. I went out to Lonestar race track last night to watch so of our friends/club members race and it was over an hour drive from my house and only used about a 1/4 tank. I think it does pretty good for what it has.
