What part of Florida do you live in? I was stationed at Patrick AFB and had a marine biologist explain why that area between the ocean and the Indian River/Banana River is so prone to rust--virtually everything corroded exceptionally quickly. The shallow waters of the rivers promoted growth of aquatic vegetation which broke loose from the bottom during windy weather--which was fairly common. The vegetation then sank to the bootom and decayed anerobically, producing hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). As the gas percolated up through the water, it combined with free oxygen molecules to become H2SO4--sulfuric acid. So the condensation we had on vehicles--or anything outside--was a weak solution of sulfuric acid. I mention this only to give background, and to ask if you are anywhere on the east coast of Florida where those conditions may occur. Lengthy comment, but it may help in a plan to avoid continued rust. Good luck!

Good explanation but I live in the upper Midwest and have the same deal as the OP. Check out my post above.

Does not matter where you live, paint flaws/rust on a 2012 not acceptable. GM should pay to fully sand down all affected body panels and repaint with a lifetime paint warrenty.

I just got back from the dealer. They told me they would take care of it, and my leaking tail light. The service counter guys kept going back and forth between me and the service manager. When I asked to talk to him they said he was busy. I told them it was my daily driver, and they said they MIGHT be able to get me a rental. I have to take the car in this Monday or the next, but I don't have any details to what they are going to do or how long it is going to take (because I didn't get to talk to the manager).

New car from dealer + problem = loaner vehicle.

Even the gm dealer I bought from used guarantees loaners when I use them for service.

Probably because of that huge spoiler you put on there. What's that all about?

This is not rust at all. What that is is a buildup of clear that ran to the edge. The solvents then tried to escape and created a pop in the clearcoat that already skin hardened. So it leaves little holes in the clear that then gets dirt and crap in it. Unsightly yes, but not rust from what I see.....I do this for a living restoring muscle cars and have seen the buildup un an edge do exactly this.
