My patrol car has one of the same antennas for other radios systems. But if you look in the passenger side of the front windshield, there is also a radar antenna and in the back window on the driver side there is another one, so it looks pretty legit to me. In Texas Constable Departments can typically by their own car and then the Department outfits it for you with lights and sirens and or they give you money to fit it yourself with emergency equipment. Also if it was a civilian car it would have 2 stickers on the drivers side of the windshield, where law enforcement only has one since they are exempt from certain taxes and requirements.

Not official "popo" car. That appears to be a personally owned vehicle that has had strobes, a couple light bars, wig wags (...thought I saw them), and what not (CB radio) added to it. That is not used for regular traffic stops and probably wouldn't be able to be legitamately used to stop someone. My guess is that the owner (like it says on the plate) is a constable and is using the car for off duty police related activities.

For example....

You all saw the hideaways and wig wags in my car. Well, I could technically go out and work a traffic gig and make some extra money....I could use the red/blues since I am a police officer and not have an issue. So could this guy. But, I'd bet my next pay check that he doesn't go out and stop vehicles in this. My best guess is that his dept policy says that he needs the vehicle to be distinguishable in the sense that it needs decals, etc showing it's police and not a kid w/ money who wants to toss in red n' blues to have some fun.

If your vehicle has exempt plates you are only required to have one. One of the Deputy Constables that I work with bought a 2009 Black Mustang GT and did the exact same thing to his and he does use his for both regular patrol and extra jobs since his agency gives you x amount of dollars a year to purchase your own patrol car with the only restraint being that it is ford or chevy. He is also on the interdiction and pursuit team so they are not required by policy to mark the vehicle with department decals.
