ZL1 just as it is. The reason; most people will mod these cars anyways, it will be much easier/less expensive to mod the car to run low 11's while already having an amazing suspension setup. Heck, the two cars tested by Automobile had a $5k price disparity with the GT500 being the more expensive. That $5k is more than enough to get you low 11's, now you have a car that outhandles the GT500, a more comfortable DD, and quicker in the 1/4 for less money.

No. The handling and MRC are things that will be used daily.

Would I have liked the ZL1 to be faster in the quarter mile? Yes, but I want a car that's superior off the track first and foremost. I don't see that happening unless Chevy either gets rid of the IRS & MRC for an SRA, or really pushes the price of the car up. Ford has built a really good quarter mile car, there's no easy way for Chevy to beat it in the quarter mile while maintaining the quality of the every day driving experience without pushing the price up even more.

Also, ride comfort.

Exactly

I'd pick the ZL1 but not as a track car, I like like it, period. IMHO, a 4k+ pound supercharged car doesn't make a good a reliable roadcourse car. It may post a hero run for 1 or a couple of laps but heat soak will eventually kill it.

Life is not a straight line. It has curves, bumps, and hills to contend with. I want my cars to mimic life.

GMRULZ ran 10.8 @ 128 mph with less than $10K worth or mods to his Camaro SS.
Whipple Supercharger, full exhaust, intake, gears, and drag radials on 18" wheels and he's got a car running high 10s.

I would probably add in shafts/axles and beef up the trans and diff while at it for longevity . I have seen people have done it for less, but I am pretty incompetent when it comes to doing my own work.

If i was forced to pick between handling and power (which unfortunately i was) I would pick handling you cant easily put mag ride on an ss or any other car for that matter but you can easily add power... that being said I think there is something to that.....(as soon as you mod it you lose warranty) sly move in my opinion. (there will be alot of warranties chevrolet doesnt have to honor) maybe they will maybe they wont

I think adding power is easier than making a car handle great wile having a nice ride.

for example ford folk will bring up forged internals.

which is cheaper to add fogred internal or a magnetic ride suspension? it is a loaded question because you can't even add this type of supension to the shelby if you wanted to.

honestly I would rather have both but I like my cake and to eat it too and that probably why I am fat.

If to go fast on a road course, or to be a corner carver the ZL1 would NOT be my choice, neither would the GT500 be my choice for the drag while I am on a budget. All you guys praising the ZL1 for the auto cross cause you'd rather drag a SS are idiots.

You can make a better drag or auto cross car than the ZL1 or the GT500. If I were to autocross I'd be looking at some sort of 240 or Miata NOT a 4000lbs+ camaro or even a mustang.
If I were to drag I'd build a foxbody, cause that's my personal choice, or some other old shell.

Spending 55k on a ZL1 could get you a far better autocross vehicle for that money. You guys make the ZL1 out to be some magic magnetic flying carpet.

People buy these cars cause of their history, or to go fast, or just because it's an expensive sorta-rare camaro or mustang.
