This was the same with my 2011 when they finally took a top and mechanics off the assembly line and put it on mine in March. The rails did stick up further than the original but now are settled into the wells. Do far so good, no rubbing marks or air/water leaks !

I believe this is/will be part of the new design... if you guys recall; when I spoke with GM reps months ago, I brought Sux's 3rd fix documents in to them, and everyone agreed stopping the compression of the top before it got so low/tight would eliminate the contact point where the rails hit the fabric. They took my printout with them. This was months ago.

Id be curious to examine the plastic "stopper" that set the height of the rails... id suggested shimming it, while they discussed redesigning the entire stopper... interesting to see what exactly had changed

Here are some of those pics with the top down. Cover is a little tighter which gives it a better fit to me than with old top. But my rails go down no problem at all.

Pic # 1 looks like the same level my top rests at. Pic # 2, the rails are lower than mine.
Last pic, the cover looks like mine - it looks like it barely fits & is bulging, mine looks the same way.

Cover fits just fine it is a little tighter than before but still have room to move around. Probably not best pic will take some more later on. I feel the tighter fit actually holds the top down better which stops it from moving around while driving. Will take a few pics around your same angle and see what we get. Thats just my opinion.

That looks like it would catch a lot of air when driving down the freeway at a decent speed.

Fishface, is it the same material or an upgrade? Do you know who the trim shop is that they out-sourced the top job to?

Sorry man been away this past week. The material feels like a stronger grade of cloth is the best way I can describe it.

Update its been about 2 weeks since redesigned top went on and everything is running great still had the top down probably 80% of the time. No rub marks, wrinkles, leaks have to give props top my dealer in the way everything has been handled. They have bent over backwards for me throughout the whole process.

had mine for about 2 weeks now. In the morning, the top still isn't going down any further (than in the pictures on page 1 of this thread) but I think that in the afternoons, the top does go down aqbout 1/2" further in the well than it does in the morning.

NO rub marks at all....this is giving me hope. I know it still amy take a few weeks for the top to go down more, but it's hard to wait! I just want to put the tonneau cover on; if the top sat down further in the well, I'd be able to put the cover on.
