Just an FYI on the isolator coupling material...as KDI stated it is made of phenolic which we use extensively with downhole tool systems in oil/gas wells. Its not plastic and the phenolic material is in most cases stronger than 4140 steel and lighter than aluminum. It can withstand extreme pressures and temperatures that most metals can't and far beyond what it will ever see on the LSA engine. We use this material to design shifting sleeve and packer setting sleeve balls for oil/gas well frac liner systems that will see 400*F+ and 15K psi pressures without eroding or breaking apart. This isn't a crappy piece of plastic and is actually a very wise choice on GM's part. As far as being spring loaded that was a choice GM made to not only protect the blower from hard on/off throttle situations but to also ensure the belt doesn't backlash and fly off the pulley after lifting the throttle from WOT. Anywho...just thought I would throw that out there so that you know this isn't some crappy piece of plastic they threw in there.
