Crazy. But, don't be fooled for a second thinking so called IT pros are not just as dumb. Sadly many times they are worse simply because they believe they know it all. Many think they are network builders and engineers because they set up grandmas laptop on wireless a few times. Ughh... PS. the IT pro too busy to stop playing video games while talking to dumb salesguys has no idea of the protocols set to even reboot the webserver yet just does it anyhow. He is a smart one.

I'm glad your manager wants to complete the sale. This guy wears a gold GM ring he won for excellence in selling cars....wow.
I have gotten e-mails and text messages very late, sometimes a week after they were sent. Sometimes system glitches will cause a delay in the message being sent. So don't necessarily call the salesperson stupid, thing like this can and does happen.
Then again he may have just sent it to the wrong person.

Salespeople are the stupidest people in the world when it comes to using technology. With 30 years in IT & Accounting, salespeople by far screw up more crap than any other field I know. Pretty much every laptop the company I work at that has to be flattened & reload with the OS on a regular basis, because of stuff caused by a stupid salesperson. Marketing people aren't far behind.

So...these salespeople are also the people that tend to be e-mail idiots. He probably meant to send that to someone else...or more likely he sent it to ALL his contacts.

I'm serious.

I have been working in IT for over 12 years, and currently for the past 3 working at a GM dealer. Let me tell you, everything said above is 200% TRUTH.

Technology and sales reps do not mix. That's why I constantly find myself somehow sitting in a car that's being delivered so I can pair the customer's phone to their Bluetooth in the car because the sales guys can't figure it out.

This is also true.

I work with two other IT techs at my job...both pretty much fall in this category.

That YouTube video, being both a Halo fan and Geek, were awesome. OK, that and I can relate to most of it. "Aisle 5, Rack 5, Shelf 2, Card #2, pull it" (this is in a telecom switch). "OK I did." My remote session: Nothing. Crap, now I get to fix the original problem AND what you just actually pulled that wasn't Card #2.

That aside, my sales rep paired my BlueTooth and was on his game email, and phone wise.

For those of you that loved that video (and haven't figured it out yet)...

There are 4 more videos in that series.

Go to www.thewebsiteisdown.com to see the rest. All are very good.

Ain't that the truth. Heck, as an IT person...I can't say I've never screwed up before either. I just know how to fix my mistakes

Now that I think about it, every salesman I've ever dealt with has been an idiot when it came to technology. I wonder why that is, psychologically?

It's a sad thing when my saleman openly admitted to the
GM/president of the dealer that I knew more about the car than he did. If they are going to sell them they should have to know about them. I was the one that actually informed the dealership about the gas guzzler tax on the ZL1's being doubled if you ordered an automatic. They were clueless about it and then had to do homework.

It may be a tie between salespeople and accounting people. No offense meant towards you, but...... when the accounting manager complains that 'the Excel server' is slow because her spreadsheet is slow in opening...... etc, etc.

You might be right there. I had a coworker that regularly forgot to save Lotus 1-2-3 (v1.0) files before turning off the computer.

I was "that guy" in accounting that knew computers. Went on to learn how to run mainframes & a bit of programming...
