The fasted cars I ever had was a 1993 TT Turbo Supra and a close 2nd was a Boxster S. My wife has an Acura TL 2009 and that has som nice pick up but I really want the 1993 TT Turbo Supra speed, It was good. The SS is very close 0 to 60 times.

I too am a LEO. This car is not only fast, it is scary fast.
Rowing thru the gears with just a slightly heavy right foot pushes
you back into the seat in EVERY gear. That is the fun part........
The scary part is going down the highway at what you "feel" like is
65-70 and looking at the speedo and seeing 91!!!!!

I haven't driven one, but it's a heavy car, with a tall wheel/tire combo, and that will negate some of that "400 HP" feeling. Plus stuff like torque management on the automatics (and maybe the manuals, for all I know).

Also, for people accustomed to cars like the 4th gen f-body, the new car is a lot quieter and smoother, which dulls the perception of speed. My LT1 Camaro felt like some kind of jet fighter or rollercoaster even though it "only" ran low 14s stock. Because it was loud and kind of rough around the edges, it felt faster than it actually was.

The richest guy in our town, who usually gets a new Z06 every year, got a ZR1 and he told me he wasn't impressed.
Did he say that as a "Yawn, I'm so rich nothing impresses me" way? There's no way the ZR1 doesn't impress him unless he buys a top level Lamborghini every year also.

It'll be fast enough for me. My gen 4 z28 was enough for me so I know the new SS will be even better.

Most of the guys I know have Hondas, toyotas et al....The SS will be enough

Moving up from a V6 Mustang that is an automatic with 150HP..So I think the SS will be very fast in comparison..

After almost two weeks of driving the 2 SS/RS I have not said how fast it is because it is a given. 426 HP is the most power I have ever had. The torque when you launch the car is unbelievable. I have had her up to 110 so far, but I am waiting to break her in. She has 800 miles on her so far. I think after 1500 she will be ready for the track and all of the other engine enhancements. So to answer your question. Yes the car is fast.

I only have 127 miles on mine (1SS manual), but I will offer this:
#1 The car is so refined in every way (quiet exhaust, virtually NO road noise or wind noise) and goes about its business so effortlessly (way more traction than my 99 SS) that it "feels" slower than it is.

#2 All LS engines get faster as they break in, it may take 5000 miles to get the full effect.

#3 Compared to an LS1, it takes some RPM to get into the meat of the power curve (say around 3500) so off the line it doesn't feel as fast either unless you bring up the revs which is somewhat anti-social behavior on the street.

Even the V6 does that. I was close to 90 in a 1LT during a test drive and it felt like the car was saying "what, is this the best you can do? Hit the pedal pansy. I dare you."

In what I'm driving now, if you give it more gas past 60 or 70 it just feels exhausted.

I am coming out of an LS2 M6 with 400 HP (plus whatever the borla and K&N add. My guess is not too damn much.) So with that said, I am expecting a LS3 with 426 (plus whatever the new exhaust and K&N add. My guess is not too damn much) will give me close to the same feeling at "normal" driving. I expect the C6 to be faster due to aerodynamics but I live in the country with lots of twisties, I am sure the Camaro will hold its own with C6. Am I wrong?

I think GM must learn from Audi. Here comes Audi Q5 $12 000 cheaper than Camaro with 408 hp and 0-60 @4.3s
