No blanket statements here, there are some guys with older Camaro who think us 5th gen owners are losers - others all ready to buddy up as fellow car guys. Same with other makes/models. There's asshats everywhere, but there's also good peeps out there too.
Plus lots of people just aren't into cars, and they drive whatever they happen to like that week with no brand allegiance and no idea if it's cool or not. The first week I had my Camaro I was snubbed by 2 other 5th gen owners - too cool to wave. No biggie, the compliments and heads turning everywhere totally made up for it. |

To be honest I have more trouble with some Camaro owners on C5 more than I do in the real world! Sure they don't all wave but I haven't had anyone be outright rude.

-- The last wave I got was from a driver of a great looking '13 black Mustang GT. A few weeks ago I was out washing the Camaro when another C5 owner drove by and stopped for a minute. And my cousin's husband just picked up a '12 Challenger SRT. So there are some good folks across all the brands. |

I've got some guy in the neighborhood that drives a really trashed 3rd gen. When he sees me oncoming, he waits until he gets right along side of me and then revs the engine until the exhaust pops. I'm not up on my car culture gestures, so I don't know if it's his version of a "howdy" or if it's something more sinister. But it just annoys me to no end. I ride with the windows down and I get a face full of blue exhaust every time I don't get the window up in time.

Yup. The other day I had a 4gen in front of me trying to show off. By the way,I think the 4th gen is by far the ugliest Camaro ever, looks like a door stop.

You know. I am guilty of not waving. If someone waves at me and I see it, I will wave back but only if it is safe. I think a lot of times drivers are concentrating on driving (at least I hope they are) and can't wave.
I ride motorcycles and there is some culture that says you need to wave to every motorcycle that passes. Well I might as well ride with one hand one the grip and one hand in the air. Have you seen the number of motorcycles on the road? I just never saw the point. Now don't get me wrong. I am friendly to other motorcyclists, and I will stop to assist one broke down on the side of the road, but wave at everyone I see. I don't rhink so. I have chevy pickup. I don't wave at every chevy pickup I see. My point being is, don't take offense if I don't wave back. I still love you.

I've only had mine for a month, but have already exchanged a few positive head-knods with some fellow Gen5 owners. I love seeing other Gen5's on the road out here. It's a refreshing change from all the 40 billion Mustang's.

I feel the same way :upset:. My Camaro doesn't have any mods done, but I still feel the need to make contact with other Camaro owners. It's kinda like a Jeep Wrangler thing where Wrangler owners are just cool to each other and wave. At least that's what I see happen down the Jersey shore.

I feel like people say hi a lot less in general these days. I remember walking around when I was younger and everyone said hi, now it really isn't that way. I've enjoyed the neighborhood I live in now as the majority of people out walking will say hi and sometimes chat when you pass by. I admit to being so focused on driving/keeping my baby safe that I probably would miss a wave. Hubby and I got smacked by a kid running a red light a few years back, so I'm extra watchful of cars around me. I think I will keep an eye out from now on!
