I know the car is capable of an 11.9x run in the right air. Simply put a drag radial on it and I would bet 11.80 in good air. I think most of the mags tested this car in June heat and when tne IAT's climb on this car it feels TOTALLY different. On a dry 60 degree night there is no doubt this car will run an 11.90. Problem is nobody has done this yet. I would guess that will change this fall.

Maybe the intercooler being small allows for higher IATs at WOT which in turn builds extreme heat and then pulls timing at the top end of the track. (Whoops, strip according to Golden Bear) Has anybody ran a scan of the intake temperature/timing advance to see if this is happening?

I have never looked at these drag radial claims the same since reading a GTR forum...
IF you need racing slicks so you can post a comparable time for your horsepower weight bracket your grasping at straws. THE ZL1 is a better track car around the turns... it's a good car but it's not top dog or even close in the quarter mile give it a year or more and it won't even be top 7 within the 60 110k range |

I'm not claiming it is or should be top dog in the 1/4 mile. It obviosuly was never intended to be. I'm just saying that for this power/weight it should run a high 11 second 1/4 mile. That's it.
Some good points made in this thread by others. |
