worked in a dealership about 10 years ago, what you described in not acceptable IMO. call GM or at least threaten to go over there heads, they will not like that and plan on going to a different dealership after that because you will never get real service from them again. they got you to sign so they think there in control, time to flip the table!

I would tell the paint shop if they cant blend the paint they need to get it done at a pro shop that can before giving it back to you.

Touch up paint is not a repair, never has been, never will be. It is something you do to keep the metal from rusting that doesnt look to bad until you can get the paint properly repaired.

I would demand they redo the section, and as Ive said, if the paint shop there cant do it correctly, they need to find one who can and send it there to get done.
Jen, Rhyder is right. You paid for a new car's paint & finish not something that could have been done by a teenager down the street. Stick to your guns and insist they do it right.

I'm going to give them a chance to make it up to me. As far as I'm concerned, filling up the gas tank in my car again (for the 2nd time) makes up for the hassles with the loaner and is a good start.

I'm still annoyed with the amount of time I have been (and probably will be) without my car, but as others have said it's worth it to have it fixed correctly.

I will follow everyone's advice to insist they repaint to repair the scratches rather than half-a$$ it with touchup paint. At this point, they've been very apologetic so I'm hopeful for a satisfactory resolution without taking things "up the chain." Both my salesman and the body shop guy have promised to call me tomorrow and work things out.

Thanks. You're just up the road from me, so I imagine you've probably dealt with some of the same dealerships in the area I have!

If it was a brand new car then there's no reason for the car to have a noticeable scratch anywhere just from the lot. It could be that the dealer you're working with is just a poorly run organization to start with. As for them saying the scratches will still be noticeable, that is BS. There's no reason why the scratches should be noticeable especially after sanding & buffing.

It was brand new but it was driven to MD from a dealership in Delaware. The scratches could have been from transport to the original dealership or to mine. Either way I showed up to buy it hours after it arrived at my dealer so they didn't have time to fix it.

First I would talk to the sales manager (forget the salesman)and explain everything from the loaner not having gas in it and what you were told or promised would happen, keeping in mind to be very calm and reserved. Yelling never accomplishes anything. If you don't get a solution from the manager try to talk to the owner. If not there is a formal description in the back of the car manual on how to solve disputes like this. Follow that procedure to the "T" and see what happens. It may take some time to resolve it. If you get the run around find out who the District manager is and that I believe is the next step. If you remain calm(I know, hard to do) and they take you serious they will jump through hoops for you if you make them understand what is going to happen if you are not happy. I too would be very, very pissed off. Make sure it is fixed to your satisfaction even if that means a complete respray! Keep us posted. I think in the end you will come out OK. Remember after the Government bailout of GM they closed many of the lower performing dealers and the Dealer does not want to end up on that list. You have the upper hand, remember that but keep your cool. Good Luck. Just my $.02

So a little over a week ago I happily posted pictures of my new 2013 Camaro (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=247676). Now I'm running into some issues with my dealer, and I just wanted to get your input to see if I'm over-reacting.

My dealer located the car I wanted at another dealership. When I looked it over before signing the papers, I pointed out a couple of small scratches. The salesman told me they would fix those in the body shop no problem. I decided they weren't that big of a deal and trusted they would fix them to my satisfaction (ok, that was probably a mistake).

So Monday night I dropped my car off to get fixed Tuesday and picked up a loaner. I didn't notice until after I had left that the gas gauge in the loaner was on empty (as in, there was less than a gallon of gas in it). I found this mildly annoying, but wasn't going to make a big deal about it.

I contacted the dealership Tuesday evening to find out when I could pick up my car and was told it wouldn't be ready until Wednesday. Again, annoying but not worth making a big fuss over.

Today I again had to contact the dealership at the end of the day to make sure my car was ready, and was told they had just finished with it and I could pick it up. So I drove almost an hour (in traffic) to the dealer and when I get there, no one knew anything about my car. Finally, they track down someone in the body shop who explained my car wasn't ready (it still needed to be sanded and buffed). Furthermore, he said the scratches would still be visible after they were done -- which really sucks since one of them is at eye level on the driver's door where I will see it every day.

So now I'm really annoyed about everything. I'm also annoyed that I've been driving a Chevy Cruze for what will be 3 days, just over a week after buying a brand new 2SS/RS.

I sent an email to my salesman listing my complaints and am still waiting for a response. I'm not bashing the dealership since I haven't given them a chance to respond yet, I'm just curious what you would do or ask for in this situation.
I apologize for the dissatisfaction you are experiencing. If you could please provide me with your first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage, and involved dealership in a PM, I will be happy to see if there are any options available to you.

I look forward to your reply.

Sounds like Delillo in Huntington Beach.....whose service department is excellent in the art of spinning fiction. "Well, the flux capacitor was loose and the powerband was slipping...." LOL.

Laserjen if this is a brand new car, I'd take it back. You deserve a brand new, undamaged car if you're buying a new car. The runaround you're getting is bs.

Is that still an issue? From reading the fuse pull threads I thought the problem with the timing table not updating when the tank is filled with premium again has been fixed (in early 2011). I find it hard to believe Chevy hasn't fixed that problem by now when they clearly knew about it back in 2010 (from members of this forum).
