[QUOTE=Car_Almond;7060766]For a filter, get one that mixes in glass fibers in with the cellulose. Cheap filters just have cellulose paper. Glass fibers in there mean the filter is harder to clog and might get smaller particles too. Glass fiber-enhanced ones are Mobil1 M1C-254, Bosch Premium 3474, NAPA Gold 7090, Fram TG8765, or Pennzoil Platinum HPZ-55. The NAPA Gold 7090 appears to be the cheapest by far glass-enhanced filter available. I've seen the Mobil one filter go for $20 (ouch!) and I doubt if its any better than the other glass-enhanced media filters.

There is a reason Good Oil is expensive for the same reason a good Oil Filter is expensive. I will use nothing but the NAPA Platinum which retails for $22. In my opinion the best filter for my application and designed for SYNTHETIC and high performance and High mile app.

The filtesr you mentioned are good but don't let spending a few bucks more scare you from the BEST!

Just a question about the oil filters. An earlier post mentioned the K&N PS7003. I have the same brand filter but model # HP7003. Is this one okay to use? Thanks for any help.

HP-7003 no longer in production, however it might still be available on autopart shelves. PS-7003 seems to be all K&N makes for the Camaro V6. I would not recommend the K&N since it uses a pure-cellulose filter, failing to use glass fibers to increase capacity (delay clogging).

That said, I would not hesitate using an HP-7003 or PS-7003 if I already had one, even though are just cellulose filters. Its just better to use one like a NAPA Gold 7090 that has better ISO 4548-12 efficiency, and more capacity, due to glass fibers added in there. The NAPA gold one is the bargain for how good it is.

Platinum NAPA filters are not available for the Camaro V6. Best that can be done is using a cartridge filter that has glass fibers mixed with cellulose, which is pretty good from all the sources I've seen in lubrication engineering articles. Glass fibers in there actually increase the dirt holding capacity, delaying clogging.

You, with your fancy V8 (LOL), should be using a better oil filter: The http://www.microgreenfilter.com/ oil filter uses advanced materials technology to efficiently capture contaminant particles as small as 2 microns in size. NAPA Platinum filters don't do that well..... ( A conventional oil filter only captures particles down to 25-40 microns in size.) This is accomplished without affecting the flow of the oil or heat in the engine, because its parallel flow thru the oil filter, similar to that available to semi-truck engines.

Yep K&N changed the code, same filter. Noticed that the last time I changed mined when I had to buy it
