Understand that when you wax you car and it seems the scratches disappear no matter what product you use, the scratches are still there but hid by fillers and oils in the product you are using. Until you remove the scratches by compounding and or polishing then they will still be there. Even when a detailer polishes out swirls and scratches he will go back and wipe down the panel with a IPA or cleaner now and then to confirm the imperfections are actually being removed.

I'd place my bets on a stray cat. They love getting on cars because they're warm.

On an unrelated note, I've heard that rat poison mixes very well with tuna fish.

Cats, squirrels, raccoons, all leave footprints. There wasn't even fingerprints, just scratches.

My scratches can't be buffed out. Look like it took a nail, or a blade to do this.

I'm not the IT guy, but I have access to our camera databases for other reasons and I know, no one goes near mine.

I'm thinking maybe when I'm parked in BFE at a store (not f'n Wal-Mart), someone goes up to it, pretending to admire it and then scratches it.

But, I've never seen anybody that close to it.

Although there are quite the large amounts of d-bags in the world, I somehow really doubt this would be the cause of the scratches.

Honestly, I think it's much more likely that it was just road debris. This car scratches and swirls if you look at it the wrong way.

I'd like to think you're right. Things on the road have given me a flat before. Even put a hole in my gas tank.

No reason to think flying debris couldn't scratch it, too.

The point about the turtle wax wasn't that it would damage the paint or not "wax". The point is that it isn't going to get rid of any scratches or swirls. It may hide them momentarily but after a wash or two the scratches will be back along with the new swirls you may have put in while you were waxing the first time.

You don't have to buy adams, there's plenty of other products. In order to remove scratches its going to take more than a microfiber towel and a bottle of turtle wax.

With that said, those long scratches don't sound like they are from your cleaning, especially if you can feel it with your finger nail. It's gotta be road debris. I suppose there's a SMALL possibility of it being a problem with your clear coat?

I believe people are saying Turtle Wax isn't good protection, so road debris can easily chip paint through it, as opposed to "better" protection that road debris might not as easily chip paint through,

That said, the past few days I have been noticing new scratches on my car. All of them are easy to spot....around 6 inches or larger...and all can be felt by using my fingernail...they don't appear to be surface scratches, but rather "deep" ones.

I have had one on the top of the hood that's about 6 inches, I've had one on the back above the rear diffuser that's about 7 to 8 inches, and now today I've got multiple marks on my driver's side front quarter panel over the wheel well that are at LEAST 7 inches long. It's starting to make me .

I Turtle Waxed the heck out of the car this past weekend and was able to get the hood scratch looking better...but now its back like I did nothing, and seems to have brought cousins.

Being that the car is black, everything shows...I knew that before I bought it and I'm not griping about that so much as I am just wondering...how does a car that goes almost nowhere and parks next to nothing get scratched?

My car doesn't even see parking lots at stores....my '07 Mustang GT has that duty, and doesn't have scratch one either.

So now I've got fish-eyes on the paint that's left on the car, and scratches everywhere else. It's enough to piss off a preacher. To top that off, I don't even touch the car when I wash it. I have a water softener attached to a spray wand that switches between soap and rinse...so the car has NEVER even been touched with a cloth! And I dry it with a leaf blower, so no chance there for scratches either.

My car just hit 2100 miles...at this rate, it's going to look like crap at 5000 miles.

Has anyone else out there noticed scratches appearing randomly in their paint??
I think its the aliens who left crop circles in your front yard

If they are deep, it is either animal or human intentional. Could you post a pic for clues?

I have a black ss. There are scratches in clear coat everywhere. I've had mine for a almost two years. I've accepted it. The factory paint isn't great to begin with. I know why mines scratched..car wash. It's either that, or dont wash it, in my case. No matter what I do, no matter how careful I am...if it's a daily driver, something is going to happen, whether it was in my control or not. I love my ss wartSS and all.

I used that Turtle Wax black with black dye in it. It fills in the scratch, makes it darker, but it's still visible.

I really don't sweat the light scratches and swirls. That's what a good weather weekend is for (getting out the buffer).

Deep scratches to the metal are a different story.
