That used to be exactly the case, GM owned many dealerships. But as the place with deep pockets, GM then was known as "Generous Motors" for all juries to harsh upon.

So GM decided to divest themselves of the hassles and sold the dealerships and sold "exclusive distributorships", with provisions for compliance. Not much different than a McDonald's franchise.

My car was left out in the rain by the dealership for over a month with a known leak. I just happened to bust them. So I get it.

I'm just saying that there is not a mechanic in the western world who has not heard about this. And you can bet ya a$$ lot owners have laid the law down. We should be good for about a month.
