Oddly enough...I was also back and forth between a 2010 SS and a 335i as well. In my mind, the 335i was going to be the more responsible choice: More refined, better visibility, better handling (stock), and with a few thousand in mods it can make decent power. So I began to research and test drive. The common denominator I kept finding was the BMWs problem with High pressure fuel pump failures. Even despite that obvious red-flag, I still decided to go test drive a couple. The very first one I drove (at the local Bimmer Dealer) left me and the salesman stranded on the side of the road (I'm not joking)...due to fuel pump issues. More doubt immediately began to creep in. But I was determined to drive others. So I met a private seller later that day to drive his 2008 335i. As we're taking it for a spin, he advises me..."The car is in great shape, but just an FYI, It's scheduled for service later this week because it's started having issues with the fuel pump...this will be the 2nd pump that's been installed". That was the final straw.

So...as much I was in love w/ the 335i, I just couldn't take the risk. So I bought another Audi....oh and then later on I picked up a 2010 2SS.

Good luck with your decision...just be sure and look at the facts before you decide.

My advice would be to look into maintinance cost between the two. I had an 88 M3 and when that thing went into maintenance it left with my wallet empty every time.

I owned a 2007 335i and just loved the car it is amazing for what it is. I have out ran many camaro's with it . I have the JB3 chip and down pipes . The car made 400 RWHP is is just so stealthy . The camaro is mutch bigger at 190" long compared to 176" . The BMW has better visability and is a few pounds lighter. I do not have my 1LE yet but have driven a SS . I do miss my 335 . The best part is that when driving around town the twin turbo's spool at 1500rpm so no down shifting is needed ever. Unless racing but for the most part it is a low key rocketship. Bad parts are the dealer is a pain in the neck and the car is expensive to fix. $275 for an oil change and so on. PM me any questions as I will be glad to help.

My mom has a 335i and she LOVES it, but maintenance is very expensive. I'd go with the 1LT or the 1SS.

Test drive both. It really depends on if you want the V8 benefits ( power and sound). I would recommend the 1SS, because I dont often see any threads about people trading down from an SS to an LT/LS.

Two completely different animals (some 335's are), depends what you want out of your ride...and as said above, maintenance costs could skyrocket on a 335 - beware... but for me, it's no brainer.

I didn't care for my dad's 3 series. It seemed cheap to me. I didn't like driving it or riding in it. I would go with the 1SS.

Go with the SS. Dont understand why people like driving those European taxi cabs. Yes, they are taxi cabs in other parts of the world.
