Personally I don't worry about it.

However if you want to take a proactive step towards preventing it don't get a typical alarm system as they don't prevent theft and they all can be overcome. Instead get Ravelco (http://www.ravelco.com/). It is not an alarm system, it is just a theft prevention system and it is down right the BEST in the world. Since 1976 they have sold and installed over 4 million units and during this time they have had ZERO yes ZERO cars reported stolen that had the system installed. It is expansive at $470 installed but it is very much worth it if you want the peace of mind.

I believe Onstar is obligated even if you are not a subscriber to help in case of an accident, and to disable/locate your car if law enforcement requests it in a case of theft.

Nope.

Also, only the SS has the "remote-disable" feature. You can also just put the car into a storage locker, or any other building with a metal roof.

It comes down to two things, Amateurs or joy riders are going to find it hard to steal your car, unless you do something like lose or leave your keys around.

Pro's? well if Pro's want it, its gone no matter what you do...but last time I looked at the list, granted probably a year ago, Camaros werent even remotly close to the top.....parts just arent worth it when resale vs quantity are factored in....

Theres got to be a website thats reputable somewhere that gives the amount of camaros stolen a year.....

Even their numbers would be off. Surely there have been some Camaros stolen one would reason.

I would suggest the majority are either owner stupidity or insurance jobs, and a few carjackings.

Like the resent article about the guy showing up for a classified ad to buy a camaro, shooting the owners and stealing the car.....that would be classified as stealing it, but they would of had the keys, and being dead they couldnt report it....so I could see where the numbers would be skewed a bit

Wow that's pretty brutal.

When I was trying to sell my 2010 on craigslist, I got a few shady sounding deals.

One guy called at 1am offering cash, but he never called back again (said he would)

Another called weeks later and first thing popped out of his mouth was "do you allow test drives?" When I further probed into his sincerity of actually wanting to purchase the car he got mad, said I was an asshole and hung up on me. I have suspicions it was the same person in both incidents.

For the record, he was probably correct in his assessment of me, but no one stole my car either.
